In March last year, SAMUEL TRUTH debuted his LIVE show to a packed out Flyrite at our first Darker Than Wax showcase. After returning home to Auckland he took out second place in the Australasian Beatmaker Invitational, collaborated with the winner on a Bobby Shmurda remix that has just ticked over 2million plays on Soundcloud, supported elite producer Mr CARMACK and has been flown to LA to play at the coveted Low End Theory!
On March 28 he returns as TROY SAMUELA, representing a more concise approach to his hip-hop infused, bass-woven live show. Joined by fellow countryman and Darker Than Wax label-mate MAXX MORTIMER, production value will peak and danceability will be at an all-time high.
Joining them behind the decks are local legends BEN TAAFFE (MOVE) & COLIN MORRISON laying down rhythms in the fresh, 200 capacity JIMMY'S DEN early.
Darker Than Wax is a music-based movement that operates out of Singapore, having released everything from early Ta-ku jams to a collaborative 12" with Cascade Records in 2014. They focus on the tangibility of sound within electronic music, preferring to encourage diversity rather than pigeonhole themselves with a particular sound or genre.
