JUE | Music + Art was founded in 2009 both to bring closer the creative communities of Shanghai & Beijing and to protest the big, homogenous mega-festivals emerging in China at that time.
Every March since then, promoter and festival organizer, Split Works have pooled their resources with those of their favorite friends from across the artistic spectrum to present a multi-venue, multi-disciplinary romp across the middle of March. The festival showcases music genres and runs the full gamut of arts. Talks and exhibitions sit next to sweaty rock shows and electronic aural assaults. Local label showcases rub shoulders with indie film screenings that often include presentations from the directors. Cooking classes from punk band leaders morph into art crawls around the hutongs of Beijing.
If you want to immerse yourself in the best that creative China has to offer, you could do worse than spending a week in Beijing or Shanghai in March during JUE. We look forward to welcoming you…
