Continuing on from their early success; Soirée returns with its latest instalment of day parties. This time they've hand picked on of Queensland's finest selectors for a 3HR VINYL set.
Rikki Newton has been an unfaltering member of the Brisbane DJ community and one of its beacons for underground house and techno. Having earned a deserved reputation as an excellent warm-up DJ during a five-year residency at Family night club's infamous Uncle Bar - where he supported internationals such as Ben Watt, Carl Craig, Jimpster and Ame - he has since become a regular on line-ups for Auditree and Kana; recently supporting Henrik Schwarz and Huxley with the former of the two.
Rikki has also featured at Subsonic Music Festival, Spice, SASH and Circoloco in Sydney, and internationally in Prague, Brno (Czech Republic), Berlin and Salerno (Italy).
Equally well known as half of the team behind Subtrakt Events (which he established in 2007 and runs with good friend Adam Swain) Rikki has both hosted and played alongside international talents Dixon, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Steve Bug, Prosumer, Smallpeople, Moomin, Oskar Offermann, Jus-Ed, Tornado Wallace, Move D and Fred P.
In conjunction with members of the Kana, White Rhino and Let’s Get Minimal collectives, Rikki is launching the Andromeda Festival - a boutique open-air electronica event set to take place on November 22nd-23rd 2014 at Ivory’s Rock in South-East Queensland’s Scenic Rim. With an edgy music policy and creativity first approach, it will be a breath of fresh air to audiences looking to break from run of the mill festival line-ups.
