The Official DJ Mag BMC Party

  • The official DJ Magazine party at the Brighton Music Conference is sure to be one of the highlights of the weekend. DJ Mag is the exclusive dance music magazine partner at BMC — and this party looks set to be off the hook. Techno don Dave Clarke, dubbed the 'Baron Of Techno' by the late John Peel, is the headliner of this very special event — the former Brighton resident is a consultant for both the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and BMC, and still one of the biggest DJs in Europe. Dave is ably assisted by Tom Demac, the Hypercolour hotshot who's making some pretty massive waves right now; Ralf Kollmann from Mobilee, one of the coolest labels in Europe; techno gal DJ Rebekah, who's a mainstay of Chris Liebing's CLR imprint; and party legend Dave Beer from Back To Basics. And that's just for starters. The party starts at 5pm as a networking event, just as the day's BMC events at Brighton Dome wind up. The venue, Patterns on the seafront near the pier — formerly Audio — makes it the perfect place to meet tons of industry folk as the evening carries on into the night. DJs such as Magnus Asberg (C Soul/On The House), Jamie Bawn & Chris Eaton (Beats Workin/Code South), Rob Savage (Disco Tech), Adam Saville & Carl Loben (DJ Mag), Mick Fuller (Soulshine), Billy Mauseth (BMC), Steve Whittle (Motion Records/Code South) and Jason Pepperell (Vague Recollections/Deep Soul Maison) will be soundtracking the upstairs as the night progresses. The event is free from 5pm onwards, and then at 10pm the downstairs opens and the voodoo techno will start up. Tickets are £10 early birds, then £12/£15.
