- ( ( ( HOUSEPITALITY ) ) ) welcomes a debut live set by a locally-grown & Berlin-bred forward thinking musician/underground dance music composer, a true emblem of high caliber talent that rose from the San Francisco underground: Well well well... LOCK SMITH aka MARC SMITH is finally going to play Housepitality.. We've been discussing this forever because we recognize and want to feature this man's talent. For those of you who don't know..Marc Smith is a full on musician with a trained ear and he is above all else a LIVE performer. Many whove had the pleasure of working with him on music have witnessed his natural talent to compose music. Marc is a gem of a producer and a seasoned performer. His live sets have impressed us many of times at underground SF performances throughout the years. His talent has been recognized by some of the most critical artists in the industry. Once while hanging with Dj Three before his show at Housepitality a couple years ago, he was previewing some unreleased tracks from his praised label, Hallucienda. One of the tracks got us really moving and when we asked who it was by, of course it was Marc Smith. In fact there is a Marc Smith LP to be released on Hallucienda, PROPS! He and Clint Stewart crafted beautiful music as Safeword and they travelled the European underground dance music circuit under the Mobilee banner. Eventually Marc decided to go solo and our friend Alland Byallo picked him up for releases under Bad Animal. Likewise, the heads at Thoughtless Music appreciated his sound and they hit him up for various joints including a mix.. Needless to say more LOCK SMITH - LIVE is a special experience. He is going to throw down an exclusive set for the hometown and we are honored to have him... ALSO, the return of one of our founders, local legend MIKEY TELLO, yea these days he prefers we call him MICHAEL TELLO... whatever MIKEY. We can't even start to go into his whole music history but Mikey's music career is on a WHOLE new level these days.. So much that for a bunch of stupid reasons I can't even include his affiliations of say much more.. Regardless Tello is also reached musician performer status these days and when he is in the house ANYTHING is possible up there on stage, including all kinds of clumpyness. For those of you who know, YOU KNOW, so come and give Mikey a hug.. To make things even more interesting we bring you the versatile sounds of BOB FIVE to rock the lounge with a non main room vibe, as always Bob takes these things seriously so you can expect lounge booty rocking elegance.. The last time he played for us he and Ben Vallery destroyed it in the headline spot for us.. This time we experience Bob's intellectual slower tempo side which can be experienced by digging through his Soundcloud. Bob works at Vinyl Dreams these days so you can expect him to deliver some hot vinyl goodies. too.. SO, another night of couture underground talent.. WE GOT YOU!!! LOCK SMITH aka MARC SMITH Known to many as one half of both the Mobilee duo Safeword and minimal misfits Coalition of the Killing, Marc Smith finally emerges with his new solo identity Lock Smith. "Lock Smith is a chance for me to delve a lot deeper and place a greater emphasis on the live side of things." Say's Smith. "I've been writing with more of a stripped-down-and-raw approach to my productions, with more of a focus on weird rather than polish. With the recent EP "Settle Down Na" on Thoughtless Music and single "Wouldn't You" on Hallucienda's Phono Obscura various artist release, Smith is off to a strong start. Be on the look out for an upcoming EP on his home label Bad Animal Early next year. That will be followed up by Lock Smith's first full length album on Hallucienda (DJ Three's imprint). Venturing out on his own, Lock Smith makes an auspicious debut that's likely to inspire more or less anything other than settling down... MICHAEL TELLO Michael Tello was born in Los Angeles California in 1978. The son of Latino parents with an eclectic taste in music, he was exposed to a wide variety of music, ranging from the tribal rhythms of South America to the cutting edge, electronic sounds of the early 1980's. At age 12, Michael's dad purchased a DJ set up with turntables, mixer & microphone and asked him to hook it all up. Michael had found a new interest and love for the art of DJing. He began experimenting with his mom and dads Disco, Salsa and Funk 12” records and 45’s. Michael has also been producing and playing music for over 20 years. A audio engineer who has the distinct ability towards sonic perfection. PillowTalk member and producer, Michael Tello’s contribution to this amazing San Francisco trio has helped create a new way to transform their infectious tracks into a full live experience. With their debut album “Je Nes Sais Quoi” on New York label Wolf + Lamb, touring live and Djing around the globe PillowTalk are a band to follow in 2014. Founder of San Francisco’s “Best Of The Bay” winning Wednesday night weekly Housepitality, he and his partner Miguel Solari and their crew have made this party the place to be on a weekday. Booking international DJ’s and live acts along with an arsenal of resident DJ’s including himself it always feels like home at Housepitality. Touch of Class Records requires no introduction these days. A collaboration between Michael Tello and Ray Zuniga which also form the duo Signal Flow. Together the imprint pays homage to their fathers’ businesses and artistic principles by sharing the same musical roots, tastes and creative vision. TOCR is a natural creation, serving as a podium for the founder’s own productions as well as providing an artistic developmental platform for a family of artists. Now calling Brooklyn, New York home he is staying busy in the studio along with managing two tour schedules and two business. He is grateful and humbled by the opportunity to do what he loves and share his music and creative vision with his family, friends and the world. BOB FIVE bob five's roots run deep within the san francisco bay area underground house/techno world. A constant presence in the scene since the mid 90s, bob's performed both near and far, from the rough desert of Black Rock City to the post futuristic landscape of Detroit and down into the belly of Central America.
