Parisian producer and Red Bull Music Academy alumni Onra has today announced that he will be adding four Australian dates to his impending visit to Australia, hitting Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide for the May edition of the free monthly Red Bull Music Academy club night series in May. The news follows hot on the heels of the announcement of his headline show to launch the Red Bull Music Academy presents The Studio series at Vivid LIVE, as part of Vivid Sydney, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas.
Globetrotting beat-maker Onra has staked his claim as one of the most exciting producers of the past few years, thanks to releases like his Chinoseries collections (made from scratch with samples found while traveling Asia), his “Deep in the Night” EP on Fools Gold and the acclaimed Long Distance LP. Onra’s unique sound is a product of his open-minded, 360 approach to music-making as he claims to take inspiration from across all genres and eras, be it soul, jazz, funk or rock, the 80s or the 90s, insisting that “you can make music out of everything”.
Onra has taken his electrifying live MPC performances around the world in recent years – everywhere from the RBMA Bass Camp in Bucharest and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, to LA’s down-and-dirty bass sanctuary the Low End Theory – constantly adding new dimensions to the cosmic grooves he puts down on tape.
Joining an already impressive roster of 2015 Club Nights party starters, which boasts the likes of Clark, J ROCC, Taylor McFerrin and Luke Vibert - the Parisian beat smith is guaranteed to fill band rooms nationwide and blow that pointy roof off the Sydney Opera House Studio at the Red Bull Music Academy Studio Series opening party on May 22nd.
