Matty Harris aka The Narcoleptic, began spinning in 1986, but it wasn't until he moved from the suburbs to the city of chicago in the early 90's that he found his true calling in the underground scene. After a lot of hard work and dedication, he earned himself a residency at smart bar's Tuesday night romp,"Pump",where his dear friends Derrick Carter, Miles Maeda and Terry Martin also played host to many up and coming Allstars. When"Pump" came to a conclusion, Matty became a part of "The" thriving urban clubscene. With residencies all over the city of Chicago ,and playing with top players such as Derrick Carter, D.J. Sneak , Mark Farina, Diz, and the list continues.
Matty has proved himself time and time again to teach and move the crowd all across the country. Twenty-six years of experience have led him to develop a method of crowd analysis infused with impromptu musical dynamics. His soulful method is constructed through his feelings of the moment and detailed knowledge of his music.
Currently, Matty's commitments are to his studio. As The Narcoleptic, he has compositions on Classic, Leftroom, Jump Recordings, and Planet Scratch. Not to mention a few e.p.'s for Loveslap as Matty Harris, and The Evolving Doors, featuring guest vocalist Hawk. Honing in on quality over quantity has always been the driving force behind every project. "My goal is to make EVERYONE on the floor move".
