Its not often that one of the greatest touring soul acts in the World comes to London. But for the first time in 2015 and with something very, very big to say, Soundcrash is proud to present a truly international sound: a group born in Helsinki, Finland but with its roots in Brooklyn New York.
Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators have built a solid reputation that is based around the vintage sound of the 60s and 70s: raw, classic, deep, but as soulful as the greatest artists within its rich history. The group are many 45s and three LPs deep recording mainly on Timmion Records and have crafted a respected career. Feeling Free from the Keep Reachin Up LP was such a smash hit that Gilles Peterson made it Worldwide’s Track of the Year in 2005.
Ms. Willis has an amazing ability to find melodies that fit perfectly the band’s tunes. The collaboration works like a charm, which can be heard both live and in the recordings. Their music is timeless – it never goes out of fashion and yet it’s constantly evolving. This combination makes them sound fresh and modern.
In 2013, The Soul Investigators released an album with a California duo Myron & E on Los Angeles based Stones Throw Records.
Next up for the band is October’s forthcoming Happiness in every style LP arriving on Helsinki-based Timmion Records and arrive at Rich Mix showing their brand new material live and direct.
