  • Alien Jams is back again at Stoke Newington's Waiting Room on June 18th. Very pleased to have live sets from Holovr, Acolytes, An Trinse and Rosen. Should be a good one! HOLOVR- HOLOVR aka Jimmy Billingham runs Indole Records, with a slew of releases to date, including work on Opal Tapes. Pairing otherworldly ambience with subdued techno beats, HOLOVR creates a long-form blend of floating acid and drifting bedroom synth ACOLYTES- Acolytes probe a wide variety of forms both past and present to concoct something utterly refreshing, compelling and new. By it's fundamental creation and design, this is computer music, albeit one of a very different nature to the current standards in the field. The works of Acolytes spiral around their own logic creating thick layers of warmth and confusion: a vapour haze of suggested melody and melting meaning. AN TRINSE- Creating mesmeric textures through all-encompasing sonics, Stephen McLaughlin's An Trinse project explores "gaping caverns of yawning analog drones, hovering shards of feedback and simmering atmospheres of intense repressed emotion." His recent release, Deeds of Shame came out in March. ROSEN- Rosen's work reflects her recent transience, spending time in New Zealand, Canada and the UK she has consequently been restricted to modes of composition. Working with these constraints, Rosen uses lush sonic palates to stir up shadowy soundscapes, incorporating live environmental elements with field recordings and library samples. She has recently been collaborating on a hypermedia project with Quantum Natives.
