Todd Terry & Marshall Jefferson: The Godfathers of House

  • Soundcrash invites you to ‘Move Your Body’ at a very special night of house music… we welcome the two Godfathers of House music to a historic London venue for a massive all-night party in a specially curated classic club environment. Todd Terry needs no introduction at all. He’s referred to as ‘Todd The God’ for a reason. Coming out of Brooklyn, New York, much of Todd early work is considered a milestone in the development of progressive and modern deep house. He’s sold millions of records from a catalogue of original productions and remixes spanning 40 years. ‘Somethin goin on’, ‘Keep on jumpin’ and ‘It’s our love’ are stone-cold classics. He’s responsible for two of the most respected crossover remixes of the house era: “I’ll House You” by the Jungle Brothers and “Missing” by Everything But The Girl by the mid 1990s and also remixed Bjork and Michael Jackson. Marshall Jefferson stands shoulder to shoulder with Todd in global stature. Recording classics for Trax Records, ‘Move Your Body’ was the first House track EVER to feature the Piano as an element and is referred to as THE House Music Anthem. With alias’ such as Jungle Wonz and Hercules, Marshall has a career spanning over 100 singles and four LPs. His sound helped develop the Acid and Deep scenes, with 1988’s Open Our Eyes being scene-defined for Deep House in particular. He was the headline act in the first House Music Tour of Europe in 1987 and in 2015, he’s as relevant as ever, collaborating with the likes of Seth Troxler and touring as much as ever. Joining these two legends are two of the brightest talents in the UK Dance scene right now both making their Soundcrash debuts. Josey Rebelle is a supremely talented DJ, a mainstay at the much missed Plastic People club and a resident of over five years on Rinse FM. She’s so highly regarded, she performed on the first ever Boiler Room transmission. Josey’s as versatile and tight on the mix as they come. Ossie has made a major impact with his productions after Kode 9 uncovered him and released his debut release on Hyperdub. Since then he’s released 20/20, Wolf Music and Meno. Drawing influences from Tropical as well as Deep House sounds Ossie is also an in-demand DJ and completes a massive line up. House Music Royalty reaches the forum, this is one unmissable night featuring genre-defining artists. ‘Gotta Have House Music!’
