Evolve is a new concept kick starting in Birmingham between Illusion Recordings Tom Craven, Birmingham's Lopaski and Cartuli's Day (London) Unai Trotti. The idea is to curate parties across special venues in the UK giving a platform for true underground music. The music and vibe is the main priority here and we are launching in one of the best new venues in the UK and Birmingham, THE BLACK BOX.
Headlining our first event we welcome JAN KRUEGER and S.A.M. plus a big crew of Birmingham's finest. No stranger to Birmingham, Jan is a much loved DJ around the city having made his mark playing CnD and Below the last few years and he was the first name the EVOLVE crew had in mind as their first headliner. Making his name for himself purely as a DJ, Jan is a rare breed, happy to refine his art behind the decks than in a studio. Having an enviable position of working at one of Berlin's best record shops (SPACEHALLE) and being a family member at one of our favourite London crews, Toi Toi, whose musical direction and party ethos is second to none, we know we are in good hands and Jan delivers every time we see him play!! With a busy DJ schedule this summer playing Circo Loco @ DC10, Techno Gipsy (Moscow), Rex Club (Paris), Club der Visionnaire & Hoppetosse (Berlin) and the huge Toi Toi party during Off-Week in Barcelona, Jan is a busy man playing the best parties across Europe and we can't wait to get him back to Brum!
Joining Jan as joint headliner we welcome Copenhagen based S.A.M. (Samuel Andre Madsen) to Birmingham for the first time. S.A.M. has been making big waves the last few years with his unique house and techno records on heavyweight labels such as Underground Quality, Fathers & Sons, Courtesy Of Balance, Concealed Sounds and now his own labels Oscillat and Delaphine; and is a member of the almighty MANDAR project with Malin Genie & Lazare Hoche who recently kicked off their live set to acclaim at Paris' amazing Weather Festival. Apart from being one of the most exciting producers around, S.A.M. is also a passionate vinyl digger (like Jan) and amazing DJ and after we saw him absolutely destroy Unai Trotti's Cartuli's Day earlier in the year we have been desperate to get him up to Birmingham!
During the day we are christening the new Rainbow Warehouse Roof Terrace with a FREE warm up from 4PM with food, drinks and amazing views across the city under the sunny summer sky. Supporting Jan and S.A.M. will be a stellar ensemble of Birmingham's best DJs such as Lewis Oxley, Ernest, S-ampel, Lopaski, Tom Craven and we welcome back one of the stars from the last CnD and one of the best DJs we've seen in a long time, Unai Trotti who has made Birmingham is favourite holiday destination!!
Trust us the music will be of the highest order this night and is exactly the sound track required for such an amazing venue as Black Box
