On Friday October 9th, Max brings his immersive and handcrafted Emergence audio-visual show to Village Underground for a fully live experience as well as a DJ set.
He will be supported on the night by Aidan Doherty and Throwing Snow creating a full night of gorgeous electronica that will keep you entertained until the early hours.

An uncompromising and individual musician, Max Cooper has carved out his own artistic space between the worlds of emotional dancefloor experimentation, fine-art sound design, and endlessly varied attempts to examine the scientific world through visuals.
Born in 1980 and raised in Belfast, his university years saw his first forays into DJing and genetics, leading to a PhD in computational biology while releasing his first work in 2007. Since then, he has left behind his academic career and expanded his musical palette to include psychoacoustics, 3D sound design, field recordings, a focus on melody rare in electronic music circles, and work with artists including noted contemporary classical composers Michael Nyman and Nils Frahm; pop acts Hot Chip, Au Revoir Simone, BRAIDS, MMOTHS and Halls; pianist Tom Hodge and a jazz trio including UK vocalist Kathrin de Boer.
First performed in September 2014 at the Decibel Experimental Music Festival in Seattle and touring major festivals this summer, Max describes Emergence as an: “audio-visual story about the emergence of the reality we live in from basic underlying natural form.” It really is a journey through the meaning of life, the universe and everything played out in sound and vision on the dancefloor. Village Underground is the perfect setting for such a special performance.
Cooper has now had more than 5m plays of his work on Soundcloud alone, and his festival appearances range from experimental sets at MUTEK and sit-down gigs in Paris, to pounding out techno to 10,000 people at Awakenings and Igloofest. Cooper was also been one of Resident Advisor’s top 20 live acts for two years and has a Momentum award from the UK’s PRS Foundation that tips the most upcoming UK artists each year. If anything else was needed to solidify Max’s reputation, he recently supplied a session for legendary DJ series Essential Mix for BBC Radio One.
Warm up founder Aidan Doherty will be providing support, well known for exploring a wide range of techno from dark and progressive, to uplifting and melodic Doherty is definitly someone worth watching.
Joining both Max Cooper and Aidan Doherty will be Throwing Snow, London-based migrant, Ross Tones. Drawing influence from a vast array of genres, his production work possesses consistent and comforting warmth, while still glistening with a serene kind of steely coldness. With acclaimed releases on labels like Local Action, Ho Tep, Sneaker Social Club, Houndstooth, and his own Snowfall imprint, Tones recently attended the Red Bull Music Academy in New York, sharing studio time with Four Tet and Flying Lotus. With two Boiler Room sets under his belt, Tones has also supported Bonobo and played alongside the likes of Atoms For Peace and Jon Hopkins.
