  • Industry of Machines presents an Album Release Party for Jahiliyya Fields: Jahiliyya Fields LIVE (L.I.E.S.|| Brooklyn) Nick Klein LIVE (Unknown Precept | Ascetic House | Primitive Languages || Brooklyn) Enrique LIVE (Hot Releases I Primitive Languages || Brooklyn) R. Gamble (Lost Soul Enterprises || Brooklyn) August is always sweaty anyway so this time we're bringing the filth. Long a standout on the L.I.E.S. roster and the local scene, Jahiliyya Fields just dropped a new album and has been overdue for an IofM re-up for some time. Preceded by Nick Klein & Enrique, it's time to make noise the Brooklyn way as the Primitive Languages pair bring their sound to the Bossa Nova Civic Club dancefloor. R. Gamble is one of the DJs we admire most in New York right now, and he mans the booth for us for the first time after graciously supplying our art for the past few months. Jahilliyya Fields is a grizzled veteran of the Brooklyn underground as well as one of its furthest-out cosmic voyagers. He made an early debut on LIES Records News with one of the first albums to be released on the imprint and one of the wildest still, a tripping, droning excursion far past the dancefloor that left some scratching their heads in context of the label's early acid house-leaning sound. Later on, a 12-inch each solo and from his duo Inhalants with Patricia trimmed things back ever-so-slightly in favor of the DJs, and the pair played a searing set for IofM before that release that indicated future directions. Now, J. Fields is back with a very impressive new album for L.I.E.S., and we're proud to have him back to celebrate its release. Nick Klein and Miguel Alvariño, nom de guerre Enrique, together comprise the duo Latrines and run Primitive Languages, a fast-rising techno/industrial/noise tape label that has gone further onto the radar recently as the pair individually or together have been making the rounds of the usual hot spots - The Silent Barn, Trans-Pecos, Nothing Changes, No-Tech, and the like. Of the pair, Nick has risen the furthest from the depths of the underground, appearing on the hotly-tipped Ascetic House and Unknown Precept imprints and bringing his partner in crime along for most of the ride. Aside from Primitive Languages, Miguel has also appeared on Hot Releases, a North Caroline-based label also responsible for drops from Profilgate and many others. For this evening they will be performing special live solo and combination sets for their IofM debut. R. Gamble is the mastermind behind Lost Soul Enterprises, a challenging series of noise, acid, house, and techno-based events as well as a label that has released music from J Slusher, Drooids, The Long Count Cycle's Blacklauren, and more. Rich is one of the best and widest-ranging DJs we know in New York who has always impressed us, and his curatorial skills for his nights and label are just as impressive as his ear on the decks. Also an astute visual designer responsible for the label artwork and more, we welcome him to IofM as the foundation for one of our most searching evenings.
