JAGA JAZZIST: Synth prog-funk roller coaster.
Jaga Jazzist ist eine norwegische, 9-köpfige experimentelle Nu-Jazz-Band aus Tønsberg. Als sie sich 1994 gründeten, war der Großteil der Besetzung nicht mal volljährig. Seit 1996 haben sie bisher 7 Alben veröffentlicht, das achte folgte in diesem Jahr: Starfire erschien auf Ninja Tune, dem britischen Label mit dem Gütesiegel "Guter Musikgeschmack". Zum Album selbst sagt Ninja Tune: "Some of the group's longest tracks ever, filled with the strangest, most otherworldly sounds you're likely to hear this - or any other - year. As Jaga prepares to take Starfire on the road, fans had better buckle up. This is a Jaga Jazzist you've never heard before...and transferring Starfire to the stage will undoubtedly become one of this year's most uniquely thrilling concert experiences."
Starfire ist schlicht berauschend, ein "synth prog-funk roller coaster", macht einfach nur sprachlos und lässt nicht mehr los.
