It's unclear who will be playing, but expect any one of the people at this event to show up.
----------------
djaid is a new social enterprise that throws electronic music events
to raise money for water projects in developing countries.
Determined to prove we are not just a bunch of mindless, self centred
hedonists who don't care about stuff that happens during daylight
hours in the real world, djaid works with DJs, promoters, venues,
record labels, corporate water companies and water charities to throw
top quality music events to raise cash for the many millions of people
who still today - disgracefully - go without access to drinking water.
Think its bad when your bottle of water costs a few quids? Or when you
can't fill it up in the loo? Or when water isn't provided free of
charge? Imagine having to walk 6 hours a day to get it
Inspired by a stint working with the United Nations in some of the
worlds poorest countries last year, the founders of djaid have a small
number of very simple principles:
-we think it is fundamentally wrong that people today are dying
because they don't have access to clean or safe water;
- we think it is fundamentally wrong that the water industry makes as
much as it does from dance music;
- we think the people out dancing with us are nice people who care
about the way the world works;
- we believe that although we regularly feel the need to escape from
it, we can come together to be a very positive force for change.
So we're going to give it our best shot. As well as responding to the
immediate need to save lives, djaid is about a whole load of other
stuff too - promoting good music, finding new talent, lobbying the
private sector, raising the public profile of the industry...and so on.
So with all this fairly serious stuff in mind, we will be putting on a
number of nights - in London to start with but nationally over the
next few years - that combine our passion for great music and love of
fun with our more worldly concerns - to establish A New Concept for
Good Music.
