A long time ago in a land far, far away…two country bumpkins would make a life-changing journey. Along the way this bunch of rag tag promoters would encounter untold amounts of sound heads and even more unrivalled selectors wishing to purvey the finest aural delicacies to anyone who was lucky enough to be in the right place, at the right time.
Theo Parrish, MCDE, Jazzanova, Prosumer, Fred P, Tama Sumo, Craig Richards, Gerd Janson, Floating Points were among the select few who chose to take a chance on us and brought nothing but eternal joy to those lucky enough to be involved and as the old saying goes…’the rest is history’. Fast forward to the present and we are back with an almighty bang to celebrate a milestone in our lives as Butter Side Up turns 5! There have been more ups than downs and most certainly a few curveballs, which is why our special birthday guest is held so dear in our hearts. He was one of the first characters we booked that genuinely blew our minds way, way beyond anything that we could have expected. He’s stuck with us throughout the last 5 years and has grown in to a superior force of nature in his own right so we’re providing you with something really special…all night long from the top to the very last beat with our boy Hun Choi AKA HUNEE.
Five years on from our first encounter and his album, ‘Hunch Music’, has finally seen the light of day via his mainstay Rush Hour, and to critical acclaim the world over. After witnessing him lay it down countless times over the past few years, whether it be at our home, Wire Club, or across the astral planes at a few of the incredible festivities this planet has to offer, it has become apparent that Hun truly embraces everything that we have put in to this adventure so far and it’s only right that he returns to see it off with you all.
So 5 years hey? Who’d a thunk it…! Well we’re not stopping here by any means and we’re taking you all with us. Here’s to the next 5!
