- As the days grow shorter and December approaches, it’s time to get festive, so on December 11th we will be throwing our annual Christmas party down at The Beaver Works! Joining us will be Swiss house legend, Deetron, Ostgut Ton and Panomarabar’s secret weapon, nd_baumecker, and ascendant Frenchman, Kosme. On hosting duties, we have Just a Little taking over the Warehouse and Super Hexagon in the Black Box. 5 rooms of the best in Disco, House & Techno / Live VJs / Bonfire / Christmas Decor & Surprises / Christmas Giveaways & much more HEADLINERS / Swiss-born Deetron, AKA Sam Geiser, despite being brought up with a jazz musician for a father, found his early musical leanings tended more towards hip-hop. He quickly developed a big reputation as an immensely talented 3-deck turntablist, blurring the boundaries between different genres and slowly delving into the realms of house and techno. He ultimately secured himself a residency at the infamous Zurich club, Trax. It was only a matter of time before he turned his attention to production, with releases on Phont Music and In-Tec Records in the 90s that grabbed the attention of pioneers such as Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills. His partnership with Belgian label, Music Man, has proved most fruitful over the years and those releases, alongside his many acclaimed remixes, have ensured he is always in the public eye. His own label, Character, has gone on to form a reputation all of its own and Deetron has gone on to be one of the most consistently impressive DJs on the scene. Andreas Baumecker, aka Nd_Baumecker, started his career in Frankfurt in the early 90's. He was discovered by Heiko and Ata from Playhouse, who hired him to work in their shop Delerium and gave him a residency at their WildPitchClub. This led to him working in A&R for UCMG Germany who gave him his own imprint, Freu_nd. Its fourth scheduled release (by Isolée) became the first on his current label, Freundinnen. He is a true musician's musician. He is an ardent tech-head, with a huge passion for obscure hardware, as clearly demonstrated in his recent live work as part of Barker & Baumecker on Ostgut Ton. He is also rumoured to own a staggering 20,000 vinyl records, accumulated over years of high-level DJing, much of it as a resident at the legendary Berghain and Panoramabar. If there is one person qualified to take us on a true musical journey, this is him. “A pillar of electronic music in Lyon: the 2013 edition of Nuits Sonores, and the respective Boiler Room, empowered Kosme's Michigan House and Techno influences to shine the world over from Vladivostock to Punta Arena. He deserves it” says Kiblind Magazine in France. With exceptional energy and unique character, Kosme shares his vision of house and techno with an attentive public. His sets are full of passion and a contagious groove, with his eclectic influences being refined to modern tastes. 2013 saw Kosme touring across Europe, from the underground clubs in Berlin to some of the most prestigious festivals. He stays deeply attached to his home town, where he has launched the successful Cosmic Adventure club night at Le Sucre and where he holds the rank of resident DJ with the likes of Laurent Garnier or Agoria. This monthly residency allows him to invite the artists whom he admires to please a notably discerning public. With luminaries such as Theo Parrish, Prosumer and Move D being amongst a long list of invitees, the occasion lives up to its name. Kosme has won production plaudits for 'April Moon', his hit on Thema Records, and also for a superb remix of Agoria’s 'For One Hour'. Both opened new doors and introduced his sound to a wider audience. 2014 was also the start of a new journey with Cosmic Ad Records coming to life, a label aiming to be an open-minded logbook of his ever-expanding universe. '1st Things 1st', the inaugural EP, was released in May and followed by 'Archipel Emotions' in December. We are very excited to welcome him for his Leeds debut. GET IN TOUCH / [email protected]
