Oberres presents Ejeca / Robert James / Cozzy D / Sean Branton + Much More

  • Following on from our sellout show with Patrick Topping in July, we bring you the next instalment of Oberres presents with not 1 but 3 massive headliners, stay tuned for more updates. Ejeca took 12 long years of hard work, but his big break finally came in late 2012 when two of his tracks were named 'Essential Tune of the Week' on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show. Ejeca's output has always been diverse. Early tracks were centred on a disco/house fusion, and more recently he’s explored deeper house and techno style such as the off-kilter Frequency EP on Sasha's Last Night On Earth imprint. Never one to stick with a particular sound for too long, Ejeca has constantly explored numerous styles, reflecting his own eclectic taste in music. This was highlighted by the podcast he recorded for XLR8R in early 2013. Comprised entirely his own unreleased material, it revealed the full extent of McCartney's eclectic output, meandering from techno and electro, to more abstract melodic cuts - serving as a perfect showcase for what he's all about. Now firmly established as a reputable purveyor of high quality house and techno, 2014 marks a further step up in Ejeca's career with preparations well underway to unveil his new project, Exploris, a record label which will encompass everything Garry is about. The label will continue Belfast's legacy, showcasing the music of his friends from back home with a firm focus on diversity. There will be no strict music policy, just good quality, interesting electronic music. It signifies the next chapter in the life of a man whose aim is to have a credible, long-lasting career – no hype, no gimmicks. It’s safe to say Ejeca has got his hands full as he maintains a worldwide DJ tour schedule, continues to keep us guessing with his musical output and lays the foundation for the next stage of his career with Exploris. Robert James there are very few similarities between the stresses of being a soldier on the frontline and working it behind the decks as a DJ, but somehow Robert James managed to straddle the two professions before finally hanging up his fatigues to become a full-time selector in 2005. Inspired by witnessing the mighty Andrew Weatherall in action at Sankeys in Manchester, young soldier Rob made it his mission to become a fully-fledged professional DJ. In the nine years that have passed he has had a rapid ascent up the ranks, from playing gigs in his native Blackpool to becoming one of the key members of the hugely influential Hot Creations camp His back catalogue is already littered with modern-day classics, the seminal Malibu which he recorded with occasional collaborator Burnski along with Sleep Moods, Can U Keep It and some unforgettable remixes including Simon Baker's Grey Area (again with Burnski) and Ben Westbeech's Something For The Weekend, which he produced with Hot Creations head honcho Lee Foss. In 2013, he will turn things up a notch, with a mix for the infamous Rebelpod series already in the pipeline together with planned releases on Jamie's new Hot Trax imprint, Leeds-based Love Not Money and an EP with Simon Baker on LA's influential Culprit label. Plus there are plans afoot to reunite with sparring partner Burnski for a new EP Unless you've been hiding under a rock you would of seen one of the EPs of the summer House Invader out on VIVA Music. Cozzy D a multi-faceted artist that truly understands underground culture, Cozzy D is not only carving out his own place in musical history, but helping those around him to create their own too. London’s underground electronic scene has been littered with the ideas, designs and impulses of Cozzy D for well over a decade. His tireless work as producer, DJ, promoter and label owner has embedded his influence throughout every annex of the scene, thus yielding a far-reaching impact on dance music culture as a whole. His music is emblazoned with soul and musicality backed up with potent basslines and expertly crafted beats. Quickly gaining him a reputation as a revered music maker, his versatile productions have seen him release on prestigious labels such as Dirtybird, Get Physical, Noir Music & his own imprint Lower East. As label owner, Cozzy presided over Lower East as it became one of the capital’s most celebrated underground labels. The imprint played a huge role in the revival of London-centric house and techno by unleashing a plethora of the city’s most promising emerging talents to the world. Artists like Alexis Raphael, Rebel, Michael Jansons & Johnny Mikes joined Cozzy on the label to raise the bar for all London based producers. Mixing home-grown talent with the best from abroad, Lower East have broadened their horizons further with the addition of international stars such as MK, Larry Heard, Richy Ahmed & Volkoder to name a few.
