Gray Area is excited to join forces with Heron Arts and Recombinant Media Labs to present Robert Henke's Lumière II at the Gray Area Art + Technology Theater. The evening will feature two performances, one with doors at 6:00PM followed by an encore with doors at 8:30PM. Don't miss your chance to see this show for the first time on the West Coast!
Lumière II is a groundbreaking audiovisual performance from Robert Henke, a pioneering electronic artist well versed in both the development of creative tools as well as their use. This work is built around extremely high-resolution laser visuals and multi-channel audio. It is an immersive experience that presents a rich and compelling take on the nature and possibilities of high contrast light and sound.
Lumière has previously been shown at Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin, the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester, Teatro della Tosse Genoa, the Centre Cinema Imperial Montreal, the main concert hall of the Barbican Centre London, Teatro dei Rinnovati Siena, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels, STRP Biennale Eindhoven and numerous other places. Henke's installations, performances and concerts have been presented at Tate Modern London, the Centre Pompidou Paris, Le Lieu Unique Nantes, PS-1 New York, MUDAM Luxembourg, MAK Vienna, the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Australia, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, STRP Biennale Eindhoven, and at countless festivals.
