The Pickle Factory presents a one-off live performance from Israeli duo Red Axes on November 19th.
Red Axes is the work of Tel-Aviv producers Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi who have been performing together for a long time, first as post-punk band Red Cotton. Red Axes is the duo’s current incarnation. Deep, playful, faintly psychedelic, their productions for the likes of I’m Hivern Discs have been well received in the years since. ‘Ballad of the Ice’, the duo’s debut album last year, combined elements of acid rock and left-of-centre house, incorporating live instruments into their production repertoire.
Arzi and Sadovnik have turned label heads recently too, with their Garzen Records due to launch in October. The label's debut release, 'Ahuzat Bait', stands as a testament to the duo's ongoing love affair with Tel Aviv. Tours of Europe, Asia and beyond have followed, but Red Axes have rarely played in the UK, let alone in an intimate venue such as The Pickle Factory.
They’re joined by promoter, label owner and South London DJ Bradley Zero. Originally rising to prominence as a broadcaster for Boiler Room, Bradley can now stake a claim to being one of the most exciting young DJs and record collectors south of the Thames. His party and label Rhythm Section has quickly established itself as Peckham’s premier purveyor of soulful electronic music, while his show on NTS Radio boasts one of the station's largest worldwide audiences.
