The Pickle Factory is proud to welcome two of dance music’s most revered figures on December 4th.
Perlon affiliate, Aspect Music boss, minimal house pioneer: Thomas Melchior is all these things and more. A protegée of legendary producer Baby Ford, Melchior makes stripped back, sensual house and techno, and under aliases such as Vulva, Sunpeople and Soul Capsule has been behind many seminal minimal releases. The Berliner is a dab hand on the decks too, possessed with a refined technique, and deep collection of dance records in various styles, rhythms and textures.
He’s joined by nu-school Chicago maestro Kai Alcé. Until recently a vastly underrated figure in the Midwest’s music scene, Alcé has over the past few years gained the recognition he’s long deserved. His label, NDATL Muzik, has played a vital role in pushing new strains of soulful house since its inception in 2008, while Alcé’s own productions have featured on heavyweight US labels like Mahogani Music and FXHE.
Joining the dots between Chicago and Berlin is Phonica’s Kenny White. Phonica has long been a favourite haunt of the Oval Space team, a perpetually on-point record shop based in the sleazy end of Soho. It’ll be interesting to see which records Kenny will bring along to fire up the party - he’ll certainly have plenty to choose from.
