Shigeto has been a pioneer in experimental electronic music since he burst onto the scene in 2008, and the Michigan native has continued to push boundaries with his unique sound ever since. Brought up on a steady diet of Michigan-bred music, music has played an important role in Shigeto’s life since his childhood. Preferring playing the drums to playing in the playground, Zach started contributing to the Detroit/Ann Arbor music scene from an early age. Classical sounds have played an influential role in shaping the artist that Shigeto is today, from his father spoon-feeding him stacks of old Mowtown and jazz records to six years studying jazz in in New York and London. It was in the latter that electronic production pricked the attention of Zach, and, following a move to creative-hub Brooklyn, Shigeto was born.
The release of his debut LP Full Circle in 2010 through industry heavyweight Ghostly International caught the attention of critics and fans alike, and earned Shigeto his impeccable reputation as an artist that is does not confine himself within genre-related boundaries that continues with him today. Drawing from an array of influences in his music, Shitego seamlessly blends instrumental hip-hop, dubstep sub-bass and jazz melodicism to create a futuristic sound.
The tour announcement coincides with the imminent release of his much-anticipated Intermission EP, due for release on the 30th October this year.
