Ahhh 5 years..what a glorious time to be dancing. Half a decade and a few venues down and we give you what is possibly our most exciting party yet at Melbourne's freshest new venue: THE VELODROME. We’ve invited along some of our oldest friends, along with a few new mates, all the while welcoming back our brothers Lewie & Nick from their overseas jaunts, ready and primed to go off like a couple of prawns in the sun.
A favourite for us here at Animals Dancing, we can’t wait to bring back Prosumer for his fourth appearance with the bears. Long time resident at the infamous Panorama Bar and now Edinburgh local, Prosumer has continued to represent our clothing range worldwide, recently joining the illustrious list of artists contributing a mix CD for London mecca Fabric, as well as launching his killer new record label Potion with Murat Tepeli. He is the perfect man to bring in the new year at The Velodrome!
A newcomer to Scandinavian disco royalty, Telephones has built a trademark tutti-frutti seaside sound through releases on Sex Tags UFO, Full Pupp, Running Back and Love On The Rocks, as well as recently collaborating with legends Vangelis Katsoulis and José Padilla. Production prowess aside, Telephones is just as capable behind the decks, with almost 15 years DJ experience and a taste and repertoire that covers the full musical spectrum. A funny man with one of the best Australian impersonations we've witnessed, it's been a long time coming for Henning's debut Australian tour!
Düsseldorf’s Jan Schulte wears many metaphorical hats. The rhythm enthusiast has been a 5 year resident of the now infamous Salon Des Amateurs - “the weirdo post-kraut scene's Haçienda” - situated within the city’s contemporary art museum. On top of this, he's the musical host of Dusseldorf Art Academy parties at Single Club, a wild combination of art and music held over 24 hours. As a musician, his percussion-heavy 'Wolf Müller' releases and remixes never fail to prick up ears, shining through with entrancing repetition and organic rhythms. His Bufiman jams on Versatile have taken these elements to the dance floor, taking more of a Disco & House oriented form, while his ‘Diskoking Burnhart McKoolski’ edits have been hot property for some time now. His collaborative efforts have also kept us on our toes; be it his improvised live ‘Young Wolf’ project with our man Young Marco, or the voodoo kraut-funk of Montezumas Rache with Record Loft owner Christian Pannenborg, on the 'Music From Memory’ off-shoot, 'Second Circle’. Jan is straight up party starter, and we can’t wait to hear him have a hoon for the first time in Australia this NYD.
As usual Animals Dancing’s Tornado Wallace (Berlin ;)), Otologic (??) & Andee Frost will be setting the tone early.
