  • Explore after hours – The Music Center invites all Angelenos to wake up the senses and experience the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion late into the night with DJs, music performances, video installations, and sonic sculptures. Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours is presented by The Music Center in collaboration with DUBLAB 5TH FLOOR Take in impressive nighttime views (from the former Impresario Restaurant) as acclaimed producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Daniel Lanois reimagines the space in a breakthrough union of moving-media, sonic design, and social architecture. With special guest Rocco Deluca and visuals by Adam CK Vollick. LIMITED CAPACITY 2ND + 3RD FLOOR Lie down, look up, and enjoy DJ sets and curated large-scale projections while lounging on pillows, cushions, and bean bags, OR bring your own soft seating (no chairs please!). NEW LINE UP! With artists William Basinski, Pinkcourtesyphone, Dntel, Locust (R&S), Peak Oil, Matthewdavid and Anenon. Wander the classical/baroque waves of the “tunnel corridor” with music from Gifted & Blessed, Vas Deferens Organization (Mutant Sounds) pre-recorded mix, and Heather McIntosh. Dance amongst elegant 18th century design in the exclusive Founders Room, with beats from the disco and house era featuring DJs Suzanne Kraft, Heidi Lawden, sodapop, Daniel T, and Parker Harris. Wake up your sense of smell as you listen to staple LA albums at a special music and scent experience uniquely curated by The Institute of Art and Olfaction. Need time to reflect? Step into phone booths and dial up the Sleepless hotline for sound advice and music from The Tenses and Nedelle Torrisi. PLAZA / 1ST FLOOR / BELOW STAIRS Amongst stunning Enzo Plazzotta sculptures, the Grand Staircase welcomes you to step in and: On your way to the event, tune in to LA jazz classics broadcast live from The Music Center Plaza starting at 10PM on KCHUNG Radio (106.9 FM). Upon arrival, catch the DJs in-person broadcasting all night: DJ Sacred and DJ Al Jackson, Victoria O’Hanlon, Jeffery Plansker, Greg Belson, Mark Maxwell, Jeff Parker (Tortoise), and KCHUNG DJs. Choose from exclusive designs by The Music Center and Joshua Wiley with on-site silk screening by artists Hit+Run. (Pillow cases and tote bags available for purchase.) Turn the corner, pass the gold-tiled reflection pool and encounter intimate performances featuring Jon-Kyle Mohr, INGA (Sam Gende), $3.33, Maria Minerva, and Nick Malkin. Framed by honey-toned onyx walls, stop by Coat Check to check in your puppet or your stuff at Puppet Check with Rogue Artists Ensemble. Travel below stairs and bask in Nanny Cantaloupe and Tom Recchion’s soothing sound bath featuring multiple reel-to-reel tape machines self-generating music compositions. CHECK IN: Got a reservation?
