Die sechste Ausgabe von LAWBF ist eine Kollaboration mit dem kanadischen Künstler JUSTIN WU und der New Yorker Galerie Wallplay.
Die Verleugnung der eigenen Identität zugunsten eines fiktiven Imagekonzepts ist ein alarmierendes Merkmal unserer Zeit. Die sozialen Netzwerke und digitalen Plattformen des 21. Jahrhunderts fordern zur Kuration und Pflege des eigenen Ich's auf und kreieren eine Gesellschaft hochgezüchteter Avatare. In Anlehnung an die Wunschproduktion des Philosophen Gilles Deleuze trägt die Installation den Namen Fabricated Freedom.
Die internationale Kooperation von LAWBF mit dem kanadischen Filmregisseur JUSTIN WU unter Mitwirkung der italienischen Klangkünstler DAVIDE LUCIANI und FABIO PERLETTA (MOTE Studio, Berlin) debütiert am 21ten November in der New Yorker Galerie Wallplay. Die interaktive Videoinstallation Fabricated Freedom, die sich mit dem Tod der Freiheit und der Auslöschung des Individuums auseinandersetzt, reist anschliessend nach Berlin und verwandelt die Kantine am Berghain in eine begehbare Video-Installation, eigens angepasst von dem LAWBF-Videokünstler MORITZ GREWENIG.
LAWBF bleibt seinen Prinzipien treu und bringt (bildende) Kunst in den Klub. Erstes Bindeglied zwischen beiden Welten wird KOBOSIL sein, der die Gäste der Vernissage mit experimentellen Klängen empfangen wird und derzeit mit seiner Debüt-LP We grow, you decline ein Zeichen setzt. Im Anschluss wird sich dann zunehmend in das hybride Klubgeschehen hineinbegeben, und zwar mit einem Live-Set der Hauskomponistin und Avantgarde-Sirene Friederike Bernhardt die gemeinsam mit Johannes Cotta als BERNHARDT. firmiert.
Die Fäden zusammenziehen wird schließlich das Demdike Stare Mitglied MILES WHITTAKER, dessen düstere Klanggewebe wie geschaffen sind für den urbanen Totentanz. Besiegelt wird der Abend von LAWBF, dem dreiköpfigen Gespann aus Resident-DJs mit Gespür für Geschichten der Nacht.

Fictional concepts of identity are an alarming trend in our digital day and age. Social networks and digital platforms endorse the curation and fostering of the self, creating an army of supercharged avatars. Inspired by the Desiring Machine of Gilles Deleuze, this installation carries the title Fabricated Freedom.
The international collaboration of Justin Wu and LAWBF uses interactive sound created by the italian artists DAVIDE LUCIANI and FABIO PERLETTA (MOTE Studio, Berlin). The scripted space debuts in New York's Wallplay Gallery on the 20th of November and confronts the extinction of the individual. Fabricated Freedom then travels to Berlin for an all-night showcase in the spaces of Berlin's infamous Berghain complex on the 29th ofNovember, transforming the Kantine into a visual-art-installation meets club-concept.The physical installations for the Berlin issue of Fabricated Freedom will be supervised by LAWBF's resident visual artist, MORITZ GREWENIG.
The Berlin showcase is hybrid in nature, merging an immersive visual experience with cutting edge music: the Vernissage will be opened by experimental soundscapes assembled by KOBOSIL. The young Berlin-based producer just debuted his LP We grow, you decline on OstGut Ton and is making a mark for himself. Things will move towards
more club-oriented hybridity with a live-set by composer and avant-garde siren Friederike Bernhardt, who alongside with Johannes Cotta, will perform as BERNHARDT. . A special brand of dystopian sound will be contributed by MILES WHITTAKER of Demdike Stare fame – a perfect match for the apocalyptic urban Zeitgeist. Finally, LAWBF will finish off the night with a three-headed attack, their knowledge for narratives serving them well as residents.
