House of Traps– backbone of Firecracker Recordings, Sacred Summits, Unthank and numerous other Scottish endeavors, can usually be found chilling / not chilling [working] day and night in his Edinburgh studio, making sure each and every one of his projects see the artistic attention they deserve. In the game for 12+ years, H.O.T. has refined his role as Artist/Label Owner/DJ to a degree that many others only ever witness second hand.
This year alone, he has brought to light the previously ‘cassette-bound’ sounds of Dutch pioneers Psychik Warriors ov Gaia as well as of the new but true Vancouver hero Lnrdcroy, revered Linkwood LP ‘Expressions’ and abstract meeting of archeology, drone and electronics ‘Mac-Talla Nan Creag’. Spreading the music/work across his various projects, the sound that H.O.T. is pushing remains so cohesive that each project works elevate those before and after.
