  • Global Rhythms will be taking over Brixton this Easter Sunday for our first ever day & night event with one of the tastiest lineups we've laid eyes on this year, even if we do so say so ourselves... Sunside will find us hosting POP Box Brixton, alongside a plethora of pop-up cocktail bars and great grub for you to peruse, which should see you dancing al fresco until dusk when we will be moving the whole shebang over to Electric Brixton for a serious knees-up. After we had so much fun hosting him for our first gig in January, we're inviting the preternaturally gifted Romare back to headline and this time round he'll be performing his second ever live show, which, as evidenced by his Boiler Room, is not one to be missed. Alongside Romare we have the amazing Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra. Dele is well known for having played alongside Fela Kuti's as part of the great man's Egypt 80 band, where he was both keys player and musical director, and subsequently with Femi Kuti's Positive Force. He is now based in London and directs his own Afrobeat Orchestra with whom he has performed worldwide, including London’s Jazz café and South Bank, the Montreux Jazz Festival, Womad, the Mostly Jazz Festival and leading a large contingent of Jazz Musicians in celebrating the musical legacy of Fela Kuti at the 2011 edition of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. You can expect nothing but the funkiest rhythm guitars, fiery percussion, call and response vocals, and blazing horns - faithful to the original blueprint but also clearly bearing Dele's own DNA. A lot of you will have already come across the Âme Innervisions release of his song Too Much Information which is reputed to be both Âme & Dixons' track of the year. Not settling for just one or two high-calibre live acts, we're also inviting Berlin's Session Victim down to party with us too. Their live set is widely renowned for being one of the best on the block, fusing house, jazz and funk into one almighty groove blend. In DJ support we have top selectors Crazy P, Bradley Zero, YAM Records, Container Records, and First World Records alongside Global Rhythms residents Elwood and Sam & Toby.
