Outspoken Invites Santiago Salazar (Love How You Feel) + Pittsburgh Track Authority (DJ SET)

  • Outspoken: Uttered or expressed with frankness or without reserve. Santiago Salazar Santiago Salazar hung up the phone and looked at his wife. Underground Resistance founder "Mad" Mike Banks had just asked him to move to Detroit and work at Submerge, the shadowy collective's headquarters. It was the second time Banks had offered Salazar a position there. She knew he regretted missing out on his first chance to study with techno royalty. "Forget our jobs, our kid is still young," she said. "Let's do it, let's move to Detroit. Traveling to further one's career in dance music is a regular move these days. In Berlin, for instance, bohemian neighborhoods are populated by hordes of foreign artists drawn by cheap rents, packed clubs and easy access to other European cities. Most of these ex-pats pay lip-service to Detroit, but it's not often that you hear of someone actually visiting the Motor City beyond the odd tour date or for Movement festival. Salazar's pilgrimage began in an unlikely place: a dead-end block in Bassett, a struggling Latino suburb outside of Los Angeles. Pittsburgh Track Authority Pittsburgh Track Authority is a collaboration between long-time friends Preslav Lefterov, Thomas Cox, and Adam Ratana. After being DJs for over 14 years and individually honing their musical crafts in various projects, they came together in late 2010 to collaborate on a new project. Drawing on their knowledge and love of many genres, they began knocking out track after track that switch styles but maintain their distinctive voice. It’s the voice of American-made dance music, influenced by their hometown of Pittsburgh and other US music hotspots like Detroit, Chicago and New York. In 2012 PTA performed at the prestigious Bunker night in Brooklyn and have followed up with DJ sets in NYC, Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Panorama Bar in Berlin, London, and Bordeaux. In 2014 PTA performed in Miami, Nantes, Berlin, NYC, LA, Detroit, San Francisco, Oakland, Denver, and their new monthly residency at Hot Mass, Pittsburgh.
