Antigel turns an old factory in Vernier into a cultural hotspot. Loud music, dancing and thrills and spills guaranteed in this soon-to-be demolished venue.
Concrete, metal, 60s contours and a ‘Toblerone’-shaped roof: Îlot F is hot stuff! It actually smacks of endless raves and loud rock music. Around it, not a soul. Stuck between the motorway, the railway line and Vernier’s silos, the huge industrial building is bound for demolition. In its place, a new neighbourhood will rise with 2,500 new apartments and as many jobs. Before that happens however, ANTIGEL and LA GRAVIERE will give it a final salute, and a memorable one at that!
Designed by architects Bureau A, Îlot F has been transformed into an ephemeral cultural centre: walls have been taken down or cut out, spaces remodelled, pathways relayed, and lights and atmospheres created. An ‘anarchitecture’ inspired by American artist Gordon Matta-Clark’s ‘Building Cuts’, which will echo with culture and music for two weeks. Concert hall, giant dance floor, contemporary art museum, design market, local aperitif and vinyl & instrument fair: ‘Grand Central’ does it all. A festival within the festival itself, so that Geneva may enjoy some novelty and have a blast!
