Faithfully devoted to top-shelf disco, house, techno and so much more, Super OpenAir is back again this time with a NYC infused, summer series event pairing crews and sounds that will heat you up and make you dance yourself into a frenzy till we flick that switch.
This time we bring you the almighty Tim Sweeney (Beats In Space) all the way from NYC!
Over the past 13 years, if you have truly loved dance music, few things have been better than Tim Sweeney’s weekly radio show and since its inception, Tim has slowly but surely built Beats in Space (BIS) into something truly iconic. In the early days of BIS, he worked in the studio of hip-hop legend “Steinski", absorbing as much as possible from the producer's vast record collection.
Later, Tim jumped aboard the now legendary, DFA RECORDS and his prowess as a dj eventually lead him to touring with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and pairing up with Tim Goldsworthy to become the DJ duo T&T.
Today, tens of thousands of listeners now tune in to listen to the weekly Beats in Space broadcast live in the Tri-State area, with thousands more listening online from across the globe.
The show has seen a massive list of tastemakers play on it far too long to list in its entirety but includes names like, Carl Craig, KiNK, Wolf + Lamb/SoulClap, DJ Harvey, Seth Troxler, Prosumer, Four Tet (Official), Optimo (Espacio), Sal P (Liquid Liquid), Honey Dijon, Maurice Fulton, Faze Action, Peter Kruder (Official) (Kruder & Dorfmeister), Andrew Weatherall, Horse Meat Disco, Morgan Geist, Daniel Wang, Metro Area, Andy Butler (Hercules and Love Affair), Erol Alkan, Force of Nature Laboratories, Diplo, Official Mr Scruff, Tony Humphries, Joy Orbison, Mister Saturday Night…..
As a radio host, DJ or label head honcho; in any of these humble roles let alone all of them, Tim’s aim is humble too: Make people excited about the music that excites him and that simple goal has now seen Tim evolve Beats in Space into an equally impressive record label with its sought after releases now in the double digits.
Don’t miss the only Sydney leg of Tim’s tour at SUPER OPENAIR out in the clear blue sky and fresh air, dancing freely all day long at the The Factory Theatre, Marrickville.
