Future Classic and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) have teamed up again this year to present FCxMCA - an immersion of contemporary art, music and good times in the spectacular surrounds of the MCA Sculpture Terrace.
The series kicked off in November with Danish duo Kenton Slash Demon alongside Melbourne’s Harvey Sutherland. December's edition featured Roland Tings and Tornado Wallace with January offering the hotly tipped Wafia and Sampa The Great. Proving to be some of the hottest tickets in town this summer, all 3 events sold out fast.
If the line-ups alone aren't tempting enough, ticket holders get exclusive access to the MCA’s Collection galleries with extended opening hours especially for FCxMCA attendees. For the first hour of the event, treat yourself to the expansive range of artworks including not-to-be-missed pieces by Shaun Gladwell, Fiona Hall, Rosalie Gascoigne, Brook Andrew and Tracey Moffatt to name a few.
Anthony Naples is a fast-rising producer who makes ‘deep, classically minded but slightly off-kilter house music’ (Spin). His first singles were mixed on a cheap laptop and released on the label arm of NYC institution Mister Saturday Night, and he’s shot to the top since with his debut album Body Pill out via Four Tet’s Text label at the beginning of 2015. Having played world-class clubs including London’s Fabric and Berlin’s Berghain, his set on the MCA Sculpture Terrace is going to be something special.
Lurking in Melbourne's remote south east, Sleep D is Corey Kikos and Maryos Syawish, an artistic duo that have spent the mass of their youth exploring sonic soundscapes and ways to share them with other people. Their live performances at Melbourne Music Week were met with rave reviews, and their inclusion in the Boiler Room Melbourne lineup last year prove that Sleep D are an act-to-watch in Australia's ever-growing house and techno landscape.
