Australia’s relatively secret yet inclusive boutique weekender, Return to Rio today announces the full line-up for the event of the summer taking place this March 18-20.
The two-night, three-day fiesta will see the Del Rio Resort in Wiseman’s Ferry host a selection of the world’s biggest DJs including none other, than numero uno DJ supremo Dixon. Resident Advisor’s #1 DJ three years on the bounce, will be treating Riopians to a four-hour set crafted to perfection and jammed packed with his signature theatrical house bombs. Having toured the world over, the Innervisions Recordings boss will be making his debut in the land of Rio alongside man of the moment - Mano Le Tough.
Berlin’s shooting star of the international dance scene will be bringing his mixture of modern disco and atmospheric house to the banks of the Hawkesbury River as we bid adieu to summer. Fervently supported by the gang behind Innervisions, Mano Le Tough, a regular behind the decks at Panorama Bar will adding to Return to Rio’s much revered dance music credentials.
The event’s most ambitious and dynamic line-up to date will also see Hamburg’s Adana Twins put the pool party’s four point Funktion1 soundsystem to the test. The deep groovers known for their lethal combination of hip-hop, soul and tech-house are crowd favourites amongst the dedicated Burning Man, Berlin and Ibiza contingent.
Completing ze bill of ze German based talent is melancholic techno artist and label owner, Recondite. Promising to dominate the stage with his pensive and meditative tracks, his live show will make it one heck of a weekend to remember. Topping off the internationals is French producer Sébastien Leger. As a man who demands that techno has soul, and with 20 years in the business behind him, Seb will be generating great vibes as he delivers a master class in music.
If that’s not enough to get the fun started, the promoters have asked Return To Rio local alumni to come back for more. Spice owner and resident Murat Kilic will be joined by masters of movement Mantra Collective, Alan Thomas, Robbie Lowe, Gabby & Shamus, Shaun Bro and heaps more.

“As word slowly spreads about our intimate party, we are receiving requests from the world’s best DJs to perform – the March line-up is testament to this. We’ve created something very special and after November’s antics, which included several pop-up parties such as the back-to-back cabin kick-on with Hoj, Mr. C, Soul Clap and Atish, as well as THAT legendary laundry party… Who knows what could happen.”
The music certainly isn’t the only thing on offer, the enchanted playground will be brimming with more fun, fancy dress and frivolity than you can shake a stick at. Our good friends at Outrageous Entertainment will be casting their creative wand over Return to Rio once again with some deliriously good spells. Last year the playful collective graced the stages with a sensory overload of robotic and pyrotechnic experiences and of course, outrageousness. How about that amazing impromptu bathtub burlesque show? Who knows what other treats they’ll have splashing around this time around.
Also back by popular demand is Betty Grumble, the self-titled sex clown who famously brought her cheeky sass to the Del Rio Riverside Resort in November. Accompanied by The Gang of She this time and staying for the whole weekend, the obscene beauty queen is guaranteed to titillate and terrify with a flurry of fierceness, fluids and flesh.
Twisted puppet shows, roving street performers and immersive experiences are all part of the program and Juni and her crazy crew, who famously brought shotgun weddings to Rio will be back with more silly shenanigans. Random Acts of Kindness, an unprompted, selfless act designed to make anyone’s day, also returns once more. Previously revelers have been keen to be kind, providing pop-up espresso martini bars, slap up meals and more for their campmates to enjoy.
If the music and entertainment doesn’t float your boat, there’s an action packed itinerary of alternative recreational amusement on offer. From water aerobics, meditation, pilates, yoga, tennis, crazy golf and volley ball, Return to Rio has it all. But wait there’ll also be a giant jumping cushion and water skiing available for guests’ enjoyment. Just over an hour’s drive from Sydney, the resort guarantees queue-free-bars stocked with mouth-watering drinks and tropical cocktails, tasty morsels to eat, BYO booze in the campgrounds and hot showers.
