Thick As Thieves present Catz 'n Dogz, Koletzki & Schwind (Live) German Brigante

  • Thick As Thieves and Trust are teaming up to throw a party of unprecedented scale with four world class, international acts heading to Brown Alley for what is sure to be one of the electronic music events of the summer. Headlining are Polish legends Catz N Dogz, whose cult status has been achieved through solid productions, electrifying DJ sets and their own world renowned Pets Recordings label. Also on board is Spanish born German Brigante, whose instantly recognisable sound has seen him climb rapidly in popularity at lightening pace. His infectious groove based rhythms are taking the world by storm and we have no doubt his first Australian show will be very well received. German maestro Oliver Koletzki needs no introduction, being both a renowned DJ and producer and well known as label boss of the hugely successful Still vor Talent, there isn’t much this legendary figure hasn't achieved. He can now be seen teaming up with Niko Schwind, adding a new dimension to their live shows. Niko, an accomplished DJ and producer in his own right, is sure to bring an exciting element to this dynamic lineup packed with world-class talent. CATZ ‘N DOGZ It’s a plain fact – close friends Grzegorz and Wojciech have had a stellar and prolific career as the house outfit Catz ‘N Dogz. Since 2003, the Polish producers and Pets Recordings’ label owners, have achieved a stratospheric rise through the ranks of DJ hierarchy, succeeding in all their sonic missions. Taking a firm lead in the Eastern European electronic music revolution, the pair have previously graced the cover of both Mixmag and DJ Mag Spain. Their international recognition has never lacked momentum, whether gaining a spot in the revered RA Top 100, to being nominated for Best Track at WMC Awards 2013 with ‘They Frontin’ feat Monty Luke, to Producers of the Year 2013 from Muno.pl. Catz ‘N Dogz are one of the few acts famed for both technical skill and ability to engage a live audience. Their knack for reading a crowd just right has seen them lording it on stage at some of the most prestigious festivals worldwide including SW4, Park Life, Bestival, Snowbombing, Electric Daisy Carnival and BPM, and has also resulted in them being booked for the iconic Movement Festival 2015 (Detroit) and Exit Festival 2015 (Serbia). On top of this, they continue to host their Pets Recordings label showcases from Berlin to Ibiza, Sonar to BPM and beyond, whilst the label goes from strength to strength. Meanwhile their top-notch production capabilities have ensured them a place in any electronic music aficionado’s record collection. The dynamic duo already have a number of remarkable accolades under their belt, such as their acclaimed Essential Mix in 2013 and their previous two LPs ‘Escape From Zoo’ and ‘Stars of Zoo’. They’ve also released weighty remixes for a veritable who’s who in music, electronic or otherwise, including Basement Jaxx, Kings Of Leon, Friendly Fires, Kim Ann Foxman and Thomas Schumacher’s ‘Hush’, which was entrenched at #1 on the Beatport tech house charts for five consecutive months. 2015 will be an even more prosperous year in their musical odyssey, as they announce their third studio album, ‘Basic Colour Theory’. A fruitful collection of evocative melodies and gorgeous vocals, this is a fifteen-track voyage through experimental sounds as they explore a new approach to electronic music. With the likes of the legendary Green Velvet, Peter, Bjorn & John featuring as guest vocalists, this album marks a pivotal moment in their career, as traditional songwriting meets Catz ‘N Dogz’ signature infectious basslines; a natural result of extensive sonic exploration and the osmotic process of years of DJing worldwide, all the while developing a deeper understanding of what they want to say through their music. One thing’s for certain - 2015 will see their on-point production, sonic progression and passionate dedication to their craft continue to push them higher into the DJ stratosphere. OLIVER KOLETZKI Oliver Koletzki first started producing music in the eighties with a Commodore 64. At aged 13, he started taking guitar and piano lessons. His inspirations were Breakdance and Hip Hop music of the early nineties. It sounds like a fairy tale. In 2005 29-year old OLIVER KOLETZKI presses 500 copies of his underground hit "Der Mückenschwarm". One of those white labels lands in Sven Väth's record bag and whenever he plays the track, the people go wild. Shortly after techno-king Väth signs the track on his techno empire Cocoon. "Der Mückenschwarm", already considered as a techno classic - becomes the best sold techno record of 2005, the best ever selling record on Cocoon and OLIVER KOLETZKI gets voted best newcomer of the year in prestigious Groove magazine. In the summer of 2005 he starts to play festivals, gets booked into the most prestigious clubs all over the world and gets asked to remix the likes of Rockers Hi-Fi, Client or Cassius. However, while superstardom is lurking around every corner, Oliver stays down to earth: "I have been making music for nearly twenty years now. That provides me with a stable base for not going nuts. Basically, I am still doing the same that I have been doing for years now: making music during the week and playing out on the weekends, even if it is on a slightly different level now." In October 2005, while still riding on the success of his debut single, Oliver directly realises one of his dreams: to have his own label. He founds Stil vor Talent, a label dedicated to pushing new artists and creating a platform for a huge variation of quality electronic dance music – from minimal techno to squeaky house to pop music. Label manager, producer, DJ, bandleader: above all this, Oliver still manages to fill the clubs around the world and make people smile to his energetic DJ sets. Be in the best clubs of Europe such as London's Fabric, Berlin's Berghain or around the rest of the world: Oliver knows how to perform and connect with his audience. GERMAN BRIGANTE German Brigante is an artist whose passion and dedication to producing infectious dancefloor grooves is unsurpassed. His ever growing popularity within the electronic music fraternity was cemented by his position in Resident Advisor's Most Charted Artists Of 2013 chart which saw him rated No.56 – quite an achievement when you consider just how many artists are involved in our scene. German Brigante is focused on a bumping, groovy form of tech house that aims straight for your hips and keeps dancefloors filled with energy. From his use of percussion to the deadly basslines he designs in his lab, German's sound is unmistakable and made to make people move. Recent releases have come via some of the industries most renowned sources, including Get Physical, Saved, Off Recordings, Defected and many more. He is just as comfortable working with other artists as he is on solo projects, hence studio sessions with a variety of collaborators can also be found in this exciting artist's dynamic back catalogue. As his popularity continues to increase so too does his thirst for making and playing the music he loves. Whether it be DJing in clubs across Europe and America to spending his time in the studio cultivating irresistible new grooves, German's passion shows no signs of relenting and he steps ever closer to achieving greatness. NIKO SCHWIND 31-year old NIKO SCHWIND was born in Trier – birthplace of Karl Marx – and he very quickly discovered his own personal “capital”: his love for music and his passion to sound. It was in 2001 when he first became the chance to express these true feelings in public for what should be the red line holding his biography together: to invite the people on the dancefloor on a journey, to tell them a story with his music. The young and passionate DJ quickly makes a name for himself in and around his hometown. People spread the word of his enthusiastic DJ sets, of his charismatic appearance, of his skill to transfer the energy of his mixture of house and techno onto the dancefloor, to create a connection between the DJ and the crowd. NIKO SCHWIND starts to play in clubs outside of Trier, in Hannover, Leipzig und Cologne as well as Catania and Belgrade. Also he gets booked to big events such as the Alive-Festival, Nature One or Ruhr in Love. In 2009 Niko is first booked to South America, a place that he keeps on returning to today. The call of his name gets him to play at the famous Vegas club and D-Edge in Sao Paolo in Brasil as well as in Berlins prestigious club outlets Bar 25, Club der Visionäre and Watergate. It is only logical that Niko relocates to Berlin in 2007 to plunge deeply into the pulsating electronic music scene. If DJing was his first love, producing music is his hot love affair. In 2004 Niko starts to produce, intensely working on sounds and patterns that will make his productions stand out among the vastness of electronic music that is out there today. Everything that he experiences out on the dancefloor he puts into his productions. His debut release in 2007 “Panotile” on AUTIST.records kicks off his production career. The follow up and very successful “Autistic Dicso” EP in 2008 already makes it into the playlist of many top DJs, such as Jeremy P. Caulfield, among others. In May 2009 Niko also releases his first album on AUTIST.records to critical acclaim. Our international line-up will be supported by an all star local lineup, handpicked by the Thick As Thieves and Trust crews. Don’t miss out!
