The Houndstooth label was born from London club fabric in 2013, as a sister to the existing fabric Records. Very few labels make such an impact upon inception, but Houndstooth hit the ground running with its inaugural release, Call Super’s ‘The Present Tense’, and soon received widespread support, with the likes of Resident Advisor, XLR8R and Dazed all proclaiming it as one of the best labels around within its very first year. Houndstooth has rapidly become a beacon for meticulous A&R, with a startling ability to capture and support a diverse range of sounds and artists, with electronic producers, live bands and avant-garde collectives comfortably co-existing.
In February 2016 Houndstooth enjoy their 3rd anniversary, and mark this with their 50th release: ‘Tessellations’, a compilation of brand new, exclusive tracks from each of the 14 artists on the label. The release serves to simultaneously trace common threads and highlight tensions within such a stylistically extensive roster.
To celebrate the birthday and the release of ‘Tessellations’, Houndstooth host a free live showcase at Dalston’s Shacklewell Arms on Thursday 25th February, with Snow Ghosts, Soft as Snow and Guy Andrews.
