- The application phase for the 2016 edition of the Red Bull Music Academy has started! To warm up for the upcoming Red Bull Music Academy edition in Montreal we’re setting up a workshop session and club night in Montpellier with one of the French music scene’s key figures, Ivan Smagghe. Join in for the free lecture session at Opéra Orchestre National, starting at 6pm, before the RBMA Night at Le Rockstore kicks off at 11pm. Admission for the lecture is free but RSVP to [email protected] is mandatory. At the club night, Smagghe will be serving up a DJ set, alongside Pampa boss DJ Koze, and rRoxymore will join in on live duties. Additional support will come from French Academy alum La Mverte, and former Pulp resident Clément Aswefall. Ivan Smagghe is a native Parisian who gained notoriety as a radio DJ and co-founder of the electro duo Black Strobe. He has played residencies in clubs such as Fabric and Bugged Out as well as the legendary, now defunct, Parisian club Pulp. By running the label Kill The DJ for over a decade and also starting his new LDDLM imprint, besides completing remixes, and running his blog, Ivan still keeps pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
