In 2007, Kr!z felt there was too much good music around from his favourite artists that didn’t get a proper release, so he started his own label ‘Token’. He rapidly established the label as a fixed value in the techno scene of today by bringing a timeless & powerful techno sound. In the 5 years of it’s existence Token released tracks & remixes from Inigo Kennedy, Phase, Luke Slater, James Ruskin, Marcel Dettmann, Blawan, Surgeon, Ben Klock, Xhin, Sigha, Peter Van Hoesen, and of course Antigone and Ctrls.
Kr!z always had a strong sympathy for the more gloomy, dark, rawer sound of techno. Artists like Jeff Mills, Surgeon & James Ruskin had a major influence on him in the 90ies. They helped to define his musical taste and develop his own identity in the techno scene. Kr!z still has a big love for hip hop, which has left it’s mark in his technical DJ style: fast & tight mixing, properly dosed with cuts & scratches. Being a respected & established value in Belgium for a decade and a resident-DJ for Belgium’s legendary techno night ‘Kozzmozz’, his dj-schedule now takes him all over the world.
Antigone is a young Parisian artist at the forefront of the French techno scene. His entry in the world of electronic music has been very remarked. Tracks like As I walk to you at Construct Reform or the ep The Day the Sky Fell for Indigo Aera illustrate the narrative, hypnotic, melodic and melancholic style of his productions. This very personal style has opened him doors of clubs such as Fuse, Trouw, Corsica Studios, Rex, Tresor, Berghain and gave him a residency at Concrete. His meteoric ascent and the warm welcome of all his productions make him a key and emblematic player of the current French techno stage.
After a few years of working in groups it was time for Troels Knudsen to get back to solo work, and in 2012 the Ctrls project was iniated with the release of the Interface EP on the new homebase Token Records. A remix of Phase’s Binary Opposition was the follow up, and by then Ctrls tracks had worked their way into the sets of some of the most notable techno djs across the world. Troels continues to develop his fast paced and futuristic style, seeking out the nuances of techno and the surrounding styles. Future plans for the project hold more Token Records output as well as dedication to engaged and detailed DJing.
