Run by Hot Chip's Joe Goddard and Alex Waldron formerly of !K7 Records, GRECO ROMAN is the genre defying record label that has released acclaimed singles from Buraka Som Sistema, David E Sugar, Drums of Death & Grosvenor. These singles (and their accompanying remixes from the likes of Hot Chip, Drop The Lime, Jesse Rose and other like minded folk) were played in only the finest clubs by the smartest DJs all over the planet in the last year, as intelligent ravers eagerly awaited the newest Greco Roman release.
To fill in the time between releases, Greco Roman organized parties in unique, rarely used venues across the UK, Europe and America. These parties were notorious for their last minute organization and lack or promotion, so much so that most punters would find out about the parties after they had happened!
The rules of Greco Roman partying were simple:
No Sponsors
No Guestlist
No Music Policy
No Listings
No Photographers
And of course, a wide array of unbelievable musical talent, including but not limited to: Matthew Herbert, Buraka Som Sistema, Busy P, Four Tet, Hot Chip, Jesse Rose, Late Of The Pier, Metronomy, Ragga Twins, Roll Deep, Skream, South Rakkas Crew, Sinden and a swag more. Naturally most of these acts weren't advertised as playing - some of them just showed up and played on the night! Such is the madness and unpredictability behind Greco Roman.
It was only matter of time before Greco Roman made it's way to Australian shores - and of course you're only finding out a week before the party!
Greco Roman enters the Sydney ring next Friday the 23rd of January, the night of the Big Day Out with Greco Roman founder JOE GODDARD taking to the decks with UK Greco Roman resident RAF DADDY in his first ever Australian show. Local superstars GOODGOD SOUND UNLIMITED - aka SPRUCE LEE and JIMMY SING - join the line up, plus sweaty upstart SLEATER BROCKMAN.
And what would a Greco Roman party be without super secret special guests?! We wish we could tell you but we don't wanna ruin the surprise! Do we need to stress how many possible Greco guests will be in the country next Friday? Don't be a fool and find out the morning after - be there dancing UNTIL the morning after!
