Carl Cox 24/7

  • It’s fair to say that the word is most definitely out on this event! 50% of all tickets sold out in the first 10 days, with an expected sell-out on the cards weeks, if not months ahead of this exclusive Easter date with Carl Cox. The ‘King of Clubs’ will be kicking off his UK Tour at London’s KOKO on Thursday 9th April to co-inside with the release of his forthcoming DVD, ‘Carl Cox 24/7’. Brought to life by Lock N Load Events & Safehouse Management, this will be Carl’s 1st UK set of 2009 and unsurprisingly tickets are absolutely flying out! The biggest event this Easter, just got even bigger with the addition of 3 new artists to the bill. Step forward... Saved Records head-honcho and one of the hottest DJ/producers on the planet Nic Fanciulli, Liverpool’s Circus talisman Yousef and rising electronic star Jon Rundell. All 3 DJs will be joining Carl in KOKO’s lavish main room, with more big names to be announced next week! Party starter Yousef is definitely up for this one... "I’m really excited to play KOKO, as a music venue its legendary, from Jimmy Saville's early London gatherings to Jamie Lidell's electronic big band future jazz, the venue has seen it all, except for Carl Cox. I can’t wait to let rip on the main stage, and then I can walk home..." Jon Rundell is just as keen to get started, “I used to go to KOKO years ago when it was called Camden Palace. It’s part of London's clubbing heritage, so to be asked to play there is a proud moment. To play there alongside DJ's that I respect and admire like Carl, Nic and Yousef makes it all the better. I'll be doing everything I can to make sure that people enjoy themselves listening to the music that we all represent.” Last year Lock N Load Events & Safehouse Management hosted two sell-out Carl Cox & Friends events at Heaven, plus Carl headlined Lock N Load’s summer festival South West Four for the second time, where he played the final set in front of 20,000 sun-drenched clubbers! Carl Cox reflects on last year’s events and looks forward to his debut performance at KOKO... “The Heaven gigs were a massive challenge: two consecutive nights at the same club, but it was mind blowing and the vibe from the crowd was amazing.” This time it’s just the one London show, in what’s essentially a brand new venue for Carl. “I never really played there, not as Carl Cox the rave DJ. Graham Gold used to have a night there, called Peach; I was asked to play many times, but it never worked out.” However, Carl did grace the decks there in the 80s, during the Steve Strange era, where the order of the day was New Romantic. Carl remembers spinning early house and the likes of Wham, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Culture Club and Eurythmics. “I was playing there when this music was cool the first time round! I’ve not been there for years now, but I’m told it’s a wicked venue. Plus Grooverider had his coming out party there, so if it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me! I’m really looking forward to it.” ‘24/7’ is the name of Carls forthcoming DVD, which is due for release in spring 2009 worldwide. The DVD is an exclusive documentary covering the everyday life of the man himself. Never before has anyone been granted this kind of access into Carl’s life outside of DJing. With over 1 hour 20 minutes of exclusive interviews and footage, and an additional 45 minutes of bonus live footage from Carl’s set on the opening night of matter in London, this DVD affords a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of the inner working of one of today’s biggest DJ stars.
