Over the last few days something very exciting has happened in the fight for Sydney's nightlife. The public has started to rise up, voice it's legitimate concerns and engage in the debate in a reasoned and measured way, consequently undermining the incredibly flawed policy of the Lock Out Laws, the hypocrasy of the Casino exemptions & the unfair effect it has placed on the civil liberties of the majority of the population for a minoritys behaviour.
Central to this uprising has been Keep Sydney Open. As well as being a continued voice of reason in this debate, it has presented a campaign focusing on positive alternative solutions rather than regressive policies aimed at controlling the population through over policing, and the archaic notion that only hoodlums want to go out past midnight or buy a bottle of wine after 10pm.
We all want a safe city. We all want a vibrant city. We all want a city that elevates art, music & culture. And we want a city we can engage with as adults at any time of the night.
This is only the beginning of a long fight, and Keep Sydney Open needs our help. There are some very powerfiul pro lockout lobbies and funds are desperately needed to continue this fight at the highest levels.
