Enigmatic masked musician Slow Magic brings his emotive, R&B-tinged soundscapes to Ovation at The Pickle Factory on 13th June, supported by new Brainfeeder signing Iglooghost.
Slow Magic has joined us in Bethnal Green once before, in February 2015. Back then, the mysterious producer’s sweeping ethereal synths and glitchy beats thoroughly stole the show, based around a performance that incorporates live percussion into its lush chill-wave aesthetic. Describing his sound as one, ‘made by an unknown imaginary friend’, the anonymous masked producer has toured his revered live show around the world since his last stop by Bethnal Green - including headline gigs from Tokyo to Lisbon, Seoul to Sydney and all points in between. On 13th June, Slow Magic will be performing tracks from his sophomore album How To Run Away, as well as a wealth of unreleased material.
He’s joined by Iglooghost, the latest young talent from the Brainfeeder production line. Iglooghost is the alias of Irish producer Seamus Mallagh. His music, falling somewhere between future bass, footwork and Madlib-inspired hip hop for the internet age, brims with a rare exuberance and irreverence. The newest signee to Flying Lotus’ legendary Brainfeeder label, he released his dizzying Chinese Nü Yr EP last October to warm critical acclaim - and is currently working on a full-length LP follow up.
