Glitterballnyc: Antoni Maiovvi (Giallo Records), Patrick Russell, R Gamble, Maroje T & Facets

  • We are more than happy to be teaming up with 3001 Odyssey, a three-week pop-up club in Bushwick. On April 16, glitterballnyc will bring you Berlin's Antoni Maiovvi, who co-runs the excellent horror italo label Giallo Disco Records, Patrick Russell (The Bunker New York / Interdimensional Transmissions) from Detroit will play a special Italo/ EBM/ Techno set and local support from R Gamble (Lost Soul Enterprises), Maroje T (Remedy), and resident Facets. Get there early for the open bar (11p-12a). The venue is an indoor/outdoor rooftop space featuring a custom-built soundsystem, panoramic waterfront views, roof access, a state-of-the-art lighting system, and art installations based on the original 2001 Odyssey Disco club in Bay Ridge. The vibes will be buoyant and sultry, and there will be plenty of room for dancing and lounging. Check your attitudes at the door. All parties feature custom sound by Massada Rock Soundsystems & custom lighting by Nitemind Full lineup: Antoni Maiovvi (Giallo Disco Records | Death Waltz Recording Company | Bordello A Parigi I Crimes of the future I UK) [NY Debut] https://soundcloud.com/antonmaiof Making his NYC debut, he describes himself as an "electrodisco horror mindmelt DJ/live performer/film composer" who also happens to be the co-head of Giallo Disco Records (along with Vercetti Technicolor). Bristol (U.K.)-born and currently based out of Berlin, Maiovvi is known for his distinctive brand of "horror disco," inspired heavily by the cult Giallo horror movies of the '60s and '70s and characterized in turns as "chilling mutant Italo disco," "strange, fantastical soundscapes that drum up visions of murder, death and mayhem," and, simply, "the kind of disco music you’d find in a horror movie.” (The Giallo Disco Records site classifies it as "specially crafted atmospheric, cinematic dance music taking influence from Italo disco, Krautrock, New Beat, EBM, house, techno and most importantly the film scores of the '70s and '80s (think Argento's Tenebrae, Fulci's Zombie and John Carpenter's Escape From New York)." We're super excited to have him play NYC, and can't wait for the aurally sinister set and uniquely dark, mysterious vibes he'll be bringing to 3001: Odyssey. Patrick Russell (The Bunker New York / Interdimensional Transmissions / Detroit) We are more than glad to have Patrick Russell on-board, a true veteran of US underground. A Detroit-bred DJ, artist and producer active since the early 90's. Perhaps best known as a key figure in the legendary No Way Back parties in Detroit, his ability to weave intensely unique, long-format narratives has earned him critical acclaim all around the world. He is an official resident DJ at the legendary long-running Brooklyn party/ label The Bunker New York. He will be doing a special italo/ EBM/ techno set for us which we cannot wait to experience. R Gamble (Lost Soul Enterprises) Maroje T (Remedy / Chem Club) Facets (Resident) Not that many $15 tickets left.
