Mercury Prize-nominated band The Invisible debut at The Pickle Factory on 19th May, supported by Junk Son.
Since 2006, Dave Okumu, Tom Herbert and Leo Taylor have been performing as The Invisible, a ten-year musical project that’s seen the three-piece band nominated for a Mercury Prize, win the the iTunes critics’ choice award, and release a series of albums and EPs considered among the modern UK scene’s most vital. Unafraid to challenge themselves compositionally, The Invisible's approach to arrangement flows effortlessly between the texturally rich and rhythmically heavy, the ethereal and the visceral, taking in unique and subtle electronic dancefloor rhythms as well as deviations into experimental rock. Six years after their eponymous debut, on 19th May The Invisible will debut tracks from their hotly-anticipated new album Patience. Featuring a litany of guest appearances - from Jessie Ware to Floating Points, Rosie Lowe to Connan Mockasin - Patience finds The Invisible in a life-affirming mood, and is perhaps the band’s most musically complex work yet.
They’re supported by London-based musician John Dunk, better known by his stage name, Junk Son. Schoolmates of Bondax and Aquilo as a child up in the Lake District, Junk Son took the well-trod path of a musical prodigy by moving south and studying compositional music at Goldsmiths College, forming his five-piece band in the process. Having unveiled his debut single True on 37 Adventures last year, in March Junk Son released Fool, incorporating rhythmic aspects of trip-hop into its lush musical palette. Live dates have followed, at first touring in support of Ghostpoet and Maribou State, now headlining at venues such as London’s Ace Hotel, Brighton’s Komedia Bar and The Great Escape.
