The Circus parties at Liverpool’s Masque venue have developed into the stuff of legend since its inception thee years ago. By promoting a healthy balance of up-and-coming-talent and established floor-filling names Circus quickly became known as a not-to-be-missed event.
Last year saw Circus branded the shiniest jewel in the clubbing crowd as it was named 'House Rules Club of the Year' by the lovely listeners of Radio 1.
The night was originally supposed to be based monthly at Liverpool's Cream. The club's subsequent closure meant that its creator, Yousef had to take his 'circus' elsewhere, this he did and found a home that couldn't be more perfect for a Circus.
Over the years Yousef and co-promoter Rich McGinnis (of Chibuku fame) have worked hard, staying true to their original ethos of show casing damn good music from house, electro, techno and everything else in-between.
In the last three years DJs such as Carl Cox, Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Paul Woolford and many more have graced the decks as well as promising new-talent by the likes of Lewis Boardman and Will Jazz.
To celebrate three years at the forefront of the club scene Yousef and Rich have pulled out all the stops and bought you a stellar line up any self respecting music head would be proud of, including Yousef himself, Layo & Bushwacka!, Tim Deluxe, Stacey Pullen, Damian Lazaraus, Lewis Boardman, Alex Wolfenden and Will Jazz!
Says Yousef: "I cant really believe we have been doing this for three years! And winning 'House Rules Club of the Year' was unbelievable too! We work hard to put on a great party each month and we always try to make it clear to each DJ its not just about them but rather the vibe of the club and the people - we are all part of it.
"This year we want to take things more experimental as well as straight up house and techno. My hobby is now one of the UKs best nights without question."
With Richard adding: "Three years ago we wanted to start a club night with great line ups and a great crowd. Its been hard work but I can whole heartedly say that Circus is one of the best house music clubs around, the vibe and the crowd are second to none. I cant wait for the birthday and plenty more Circus madness in 2006."
