His sonic education and progression throughout his professional life has contributed to his metamorphosis both as a DJ and producer. Credited with a diverse and remarkably long list of productions, remixes and collaborations, a stable and successful independent record label Surface Recordings with longtime partner & friend Hipp-e, prestigious residencies and a globetrotting DJ schedule, the past few years have seen Halo take the industry by storm. Halo's blend of house and modern sophisticated Teky rhythms is keenly rooted in the early dance floor sounds of New York, Detroit and home town Chicago. The brand of music he has fashioned is comfortable and timeless; it just fits. His productions, which reside in the..“I have so many musical inspirations that I love,” says Halo (born Brian Varga.) For him, creative motivations are found everywhere. As a producer, Halo's music always seems to feature equal nods to the robotic and the organic. It's music that points in the direction of where sounds are heading while being rooted in the early dance floor sounds that its maker fell in love with as a teenager. “Being from Chicago, I still love the vintage drum machine sounds mixed with organic rhythms,” he says. Such music, spirit and enthusiasm have earned him a top spot on URB Magazine's Next 100, a nomination for Best DJ in 2003's International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs), two Top 20 finishes in BPM's America's Favorite DJ for 2003 and 2004, and twenty years of making fans. Halo's produced original works, collaborations, and remixes for labels such as Surface, Supplement Facts. 1Trax, ONE Records, Large, Siesta, Tango, Yoshitoshi, Soma, NRK, Nordic Trax, and Orion Music to name a few. However, before he was able to make a living in dance music, sixteen year-old Brian Varga was tagging his hometown of Chicago with the graffiti artist name “Halo.” Sunny Southern California proved just right for Halo and great friend Hipp-E, with whom he formed H Foundation in 1999. Together, they DJ'd, made records, and during that time Halo partnered in a Downtown San Diego record store called Siesta (named for the record label Siesta Music). H Foundation saw releases on labels like SOMA, Siesta, Low Pressing, NRK, Fabric, Yoshitoshi, and Camoflauge. While the pair quickly DJ'd all over, it was a trip to Miami that unlocked a new world. A year into their partnership, while performing at the legendary Winter Music Conference, Halo and Hipp-E were invited to play their first European gig at a new club in London called Fabric. Halo loaded up the U-Haul truck for his first term as a Northern California resident, and he would touch down in San Francisco for three years (though as of last year he's again a San Diegan). Surface has launched, a new record label run by Halo & long time friend Hipp-e. The label will see releases from Proudly People, Onno, Francisco Allendes, Tuccillo, David Durango, Re-UP, Hector, Pezzner, Sam Russo, Safeword , Andrew Grant and many more. NU ZAU: Nu Zau is one of the leading producers and dj's that have come out of Romania in the past few years. Inspired by already well established names such as Ricardo Villalobos, Rhadoo, Thomas Melchior and many others, he's grown into a romanian household name in a very short year span. Dark, percussive, funky and quirky would be the best way to describe his sound, already having released on labels such as Fear Of Flying in 2012 with his debut vinyl release "Pason/Deja Vu" and his debut album on Archipel, released digitaly. Since then he's signed EP's, individual tracks and remixes on many other labels such as Gilesku Records, Aeternum Music, Memoria Recordings and Uvar, which he co-runs with fellow romanian Sepp. His productions have gained world wide recognition - Raresh, Rhadoo, Ricardo Villalobos, Petre Inspirescu, Fumiya Tanaka, Onur Ozer, Bill Patrick are only a few of the people that can be heard playing his tracks. As a DJ he seemlessly blends through oldschool records and new wave productions alike, crossing borders musically and inspiring people wherever he plays, be it in romanian clubs such as Studio Martin or Kristal Glam Club, or beyond Romanian borders - Sankeys (Ibiza), Gipsy (Moscow), Origami (Tokyo), Bloc (Barcelona), Hopetosse (Berlin), Paradigm (Groningen, NL), Pfingstweide (Zürich,Switzerland), Underground (Ibiza) Pigallion (Paris, FR), Crucifix Lane (London, UK) and many others. SEPP: Sepp has been on the radar for quite a while now and recently things have taken flight for him. After touring extensively these past few years and getting accustomed to many cultures, he's grown and matured his sound both as a producer and a dancefloor conductor. Verging on realeasing his first album on UVAR, the label he manages with fellow colleague Nu Zau, he's also started out his own project, Catren, a lyrical inspired platform that aspires to a more organic and subtle sound than what we've come to know and love about him. As he moves forward and continues to delight and surprise people all around the world with his flair and precision mixing, Sepp is a name you will certainly come to hear more of in the future.
