Salacious is back! We return to London on Sunday 8th March for a day of cutting edge electronic music!
To kick off 2009 we start our new bi-weekly Sunday sessions at the newly refurbished ‘Korsan Bar’ on Kingsland Road in Dalston. Perfect for Sunday parties throughout the spring and summer, this intimate venue (about 250 capacity) boasts of an outdoor terrace, a radiant indoor dancing area and our own customised Martin audio sound system, that guarantee’s exceptional sound quality throughout the day!
From 11 am on the 2nd and the last Sunday of the month, Salacious residents and special guests will be applying their novel ethic to fusing house and techno music, skilfully delivered to a welcoming crowd.
To launch things on the 8th we’ve invited down Resident Advisor’s Jozif Goodwin aka ‘Jozif’ and a man that needs no introduction in London Town, Cozzy D, to play alongside resident Djs Michael Jansons – one half of London duo ‘Goldie-Lox’ and Simon Hills. Sound will be supplied by Richard Whittam from Chilli Sounds - Rich has been responsible for some of London's most forward thinking underground raves, using his extensive knowledge of sound engineering and his Custom made 'Martin Audio stack Systems' as used In Fabric. He also has a client roster including the O2 and Dazed and Confused Magazine.
Its free entry all day and for those that can, there’ll be a Turkish BBQ in the afternoon…
JOZIF
Stop me if you've heard this one before…
…28-year old London DJ and producer Jozif, epitomises that ofent misused term, 'one to watch'. His distinctive and original productions are already making a lasting impression on industry-heroes such as Andrew Weatherall and Craig Richards, and in scene that rarely stays the same for long, his natural passion and devotion to dance music has seen him DJ'ing consistently for over 10 years.
Sprouting from bonafide rock star roots, Jozif has been immersed in music and inspiration his whole life. Access to a record collection beyond measure meant an endless supply of new sounds and sensations, while a healthy appetite for hedonism fired his imagination and fuelled his ambition.
Like many aspiring DJ's, early gigs taught Jozif the humble art of playing to the smallest and most ignorant clubs, but also the attitude that an atmosphere is only what you make it. The belief that a good DJ plays to the best of their ability wherever they find themselves helped shape this consistent and captivating musician, who now rocks some our the most popular dance floors. His intense blend of juddering tech house and rich minimal grooves, have earned Jozif gigs at benchmark London clubs such T-Bar, Public Life and The End, and a rising popularity with discerning clubbers everywhere.
His productions such as Copenhagen Interpretation and My Muse are murky and hypnotic, and demonstrate a natural aptitude for innovative and captivating dance music. Eschewing the "in" sound, Jozif's output has always followed its own path – quirky, charismatic and thoroughly electronic, his are the stand-out tracks that permeate a twisted 6am dancefloor, or drive a Balearic afterhours party through the roof. With tracks on the Coincidence Records, Fondation, Hypercolour and his own Vinyl only, MOG records coupled with a future project with one of dance music’s true hero’s, he genuinely is an artist to watch out for…and enjoy.
COZZY D
Cozzy D has been DJing since 1998 and has been been fortunate enough to play for some of the best club nights in the country, such as Underwater, Type, Renaissance, Circo Loco, among others. He currently holds a residency with FERVOR and co-promotes London's freshest party JUST BECAUSE... which currently resides @ PLATINUM in the heart of Shoreditch. The night aims to showcase some of the finest up & coming DJ talent split across 2 floors! He is one third Of the DJ/Production outfit "NINJA COWBOYS"... along with Johnny Mikes & Mark Storie. Ninja Cowboys exploded onto the London scene in 2004 and have been tearing up clubs all across the country ever since, quite often playing with 4 decks & 2 mixers! Cozzy is also one half of "D DUB" alongside Kid Dub. D DUB's first release "GENESIS" was released on Berwick Street Records in Feb 2007, with remixes from Audiofly & Timo Garcia. It received rave reviews in DJ MAG getting "The Money Shot" & 5/5*s! Plus also featuring on the GU MIX Compilation from Global Underground, and was massively supported by John Digweed who featured it on his Transitions Radio Show on Kiss FM. Since then Cozzy D gone from strength to strength releasing some solo material for Berwick Street & Red Recordings aswell as releases & remixes with D DUB & Ninja Cowboys!
GOLDIE-LOX
Head Honchos at Salacious Records, London based Goldie-lox have been making a name for crafting bottom slices of eerie house music. The production and remix efforts of Andrew Read and Michael Jansons have featured on a number of key labels, including G.I Recordings, Gusto, Adam K’s HotBox Digital, Mantra Vibes and Salacious. Their deep, rhythmic sound has gained them support from the likes of Carl Cox, Sasha, Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Mark Night, James Zabiela and Claude Von Stroke.
Shaping up for the likes of Steve Lawler’s ‘Wasted Again’ mix compilation through to Mantra Vibes ‘Mad in Sicily’ - that was supported by three trips to the legendry island and DJ spots next to Lindstrom and Prinz Thomas, Who Made Who and Giles Peterson. Add a residency @ Dubai’s infamous ‘360’ and a number 1 spot in Carl Cox’s play-list and you’ll agree that these boys are the ones to listen too..
SIMON HILLS
Head honcho and A & R man for Backyard Record’s (Chromeo, The Gossip) sister electronic outfit Pin Up Records, Simon Hills, has been gracing the decks for the last decade playing at some of London’s finest venues, including The Egg andTurnmills, as well as playing the main room at the legendary Cross for one of it’s final parties. Part of the fledgling Iiinside (www.iiinside.com) collective that combines Music, fashion & Art, Simon’s sets blur the lines between house & techno always rocking the dancelfoor for Salacious and always pushing cutting edge sounds, aimed straight for the dancelfloor!! With a host of productions on the way for 09, Simon is the one too watch…
