Two of the UK’s most revered DJs play an All Night Long b2b session at The Pickle Factory on 19th August: Going Good boss Brian Not Brian, and acclaimed Hoya:Hoya resident Jon K.
Few London DJs have a record collection as deep, broad and compelling as Brian Not Brian. The Going Good boss and frequent Sex Tags affiliate is most comfortable playing exultant disco cuts, but he's equally capable of spinning rich house records, rare soul and oddball techno. His Going Good imprint is a testament to this wilfully eclectic spirit: under Brian’s careful curatorial hand, the label has released aqueous house cuts from Ewan Jansen; broke acclaimed French duo Nummer with their Reach EP; and leftfield disco and funk from Moon B, Mystic Jungle Tribe and Aquarian Foundation. Such a broad back catalogue speaks to Brian’s taste and digging ability - one of London’s few truly special DJs.
Brian’s joined by Manchester’s finest, Hoya:Hoya resident Jon K. The epithet ‘DJ’s DJ’ has scarcely been more appropriate than in describing Jon’s superb, genre-defying DJ sets. A true purist and deeper than deep digger, Jon was once an integral part of record store Fat City, and is now key resident of revered Manchester party Hoya:Hoya along with Krystal Klear, Illum Sphere and Eclair Fifi. While other Hoya:Hoya residents have gone on to mainstream success, Jon purposefully cuts an understated figure, choosing regular All Night Long b2b gigs with other Mancunian institution Mr Scruff over more lucrative - but less artistically worthwhile - DJing pursuits.
