This JUNE 18, Sustain-Release teams up with one of our biggest inspirations, Krakow’s UNSOUND Festival. As part of a two-night takeover at Good Room, we’ve selected a mix of moment-defining artists that explore the overlap between our two worlds.
THE ZENKER BROTHERS join from Munich where they run essential label Ilian Tape. They’ll play an extended late-night DJ set, journeying through broken-beat techno and hypnotic bangers. Indiana steelworker-turned-producer JLIN will perform a visceral live set. As the protégé of footwork pioneer RP Boo, she’s known for jagged sampler workouts that explode the boundaries between footwork, industrial, and hip hop. 1080p’s VIA APP, a standout of S-R’s Year Two, shares a uniquely borderless take on electronic composition built from spiraling, leftfield techno soundscapes. Following their recent “Authority Figure” show at the Knockdown Center, FLUCT will perform a confrontational 10-minute dance piece in collaboration with pulsating strobe performance from GREG ZIFCAK. With help from the Polish Cultural Institute, Krakow DJ & promoter OLIVIA will open the night.
DJ RICHARD plays all night long in the Bad Room. 6 hour set, strap in. His White Material 12"s of incendiary, ghetto house-inflected club music were instant cult faves, and last year’s 'Grind' on Dial perfectly encapsulates his blend of foreboding ambient, tender electronics and feral punk energy.
Both rooms will be treated by lighting artist Nitemind and Tsunami Bass Sound System.

UNSOUND NEW YORK takes place June 16-19 across NYC, with additional events at the Lincoln Center Atrium and collaborations with The Bunker New York. Program also includes: Alessandro Cortini, Beau Wanzer, Cliff Lothar, Club 2 Club Soundsystem, Damian Romero, Elysia Crampton, Erika, Further Reductions, Greg Fox, Nihal Ramchandani, Ninos Du Brasil, Scott Fraser, Timothy J. Fairplay, Vaghe Stelle.
This is part of an ongoing series for 2016 and 2017 called DISLOCATION, with eleven cities to host mini festivals from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Central Asia and the Caucasus region.
