PHONO is ready for its 11th festival edition of non-compromising art and unrestrained festive atmospheres, as the festival again transforms Odense's FAF-building to a venue fit for a true underground musical experience.
WHAT IS PHONO?
PHONO is a non-compromising audio/visual electronic music festival held in Odense, Denmark. The festival is, and has always been, exclusively driven by volunteers. PHONO focuses on creating experimental, challenging and artistic music experiences, spectacular light-installations and an always great, intimate and intense atmosphere.
The aim is for the festival-guests to leave the festival with a broadened horizon of electronic music, entailing specific genres such as ambient, techno, leftfield, lo-fi, house, footwork, industrial etc. - in short: there’s no boundaries as to which genres are to be experienced at PHONO. Our mission is to challenge people’s perception of what electronic music is and how a concert can be experienced.
HISTORY
Thus far, the festival has been held in buildings on and around the harbour, as well as in the old abattoir on Rugårdsvej from 2009-2012. The program always tries to prove that music can be both experimental and challenging, yet still make for an extraordinary party. The list of artists who have performed at PHONO Festival includes: Pantha Du Prince & The Bell Laboratory, James Holden, The Field, The Egyptian Lover, RP Boo, Elektro Guzzi, Morphosis, Aux 88, DJ Spinn & DJ Rashad, Karenn, Hieroglyphic Being, Black Devil Disco Club, Birdy Nam Nam, Hudson Mohawke, Clock DVA, Lone, Robert Hood, Laser Sword, Pan Sonic, In Aeternam Vale, Mouse On Mars, Nero, Cluster, Dopplereffekt, Pinch, Jazzsteppa, Stereo Total, Sun Araw, Africa Hitech, Ancient Methods, Felix Kubin and many more.
