When Intergalactic Gary played at French Kiss presents back in January he absolutely nailed it. He brought everything to the table, from House and Garage to Disco and Acid, and then he turned the table upside down and blew us away. We couldn't resist getting New Zealand-born, Dutch-based DJ and producer back for round two.
He started mixing around 1980 after being influenced by the (Italo) disco scene in The Hague. He started his DJ career in the 90s with squat and club parties in The Hague. He's been a essential part of the local radio scene, as a weekly guest DJ for regional pirate radio stations like Trend FM and Radical Radio with I-f and crew and he's been a
regular mixer on The Cybernetic Broadcasting System since it started in 2002.
We've invited another legend from The Hague out for this party, DJ Overdose. e’s started DJ-ing in the late 80’s and shortly after he started producing, with the EMU SP12 sampler as his favorite piece of gear. Rooted in the veins of hip-hop and electro this guy carries on the torch of power. Recently he added the moniker of Model Man to his artistry, which is more dedicated to wave, pop and dance.
He had output on a numerous amount of the finest of labels such as Viewlexx, Strange Life, WT Records and Pinkman and he worked in collaboration with greats such as Alden Tyrell, Cliff Lothar & I-F.
Both men rose out of the highly acclaimed Dutch West-Coast scene and were part of the keystones of The Hague’s fabled days, earning a reputation for developing true craftsmanship behind the decks. This is where I-F / Intergalactic FM, Unit Moebius and labels such as Bunker have risen as well.
Willie Burns is no stranger to the Dutch scene, having worked on numerous projects with some of their best talent including Legowelt, DJ Overdose and Hunee. He's based in Brooklyn, where he runs W.T. Records, does a wildly varied weekly radio show (WTBS) and works at legendary record shop, The Thing. His music is hard to define, pulling sounds out of the leftfield and using lots of synthesizers he put them together to create some techno gems, having put out records on The Trilogy Tapes, Rush Hour, L.I.E.S. and Crème Organization. He's a Good Room resident and he's the only person who can get this party started right.
We've added in a live act, just for good measure. He's also from The Netherlands and is a long time player in the worldwide Electro scene. Cosmic Force is not an artist who transformed from one sound to another, he's one of Electro's originals ! Like so many kids of the 80's, Cosmic Force was influenced by the emergent street culture of New York, especially the Electrofunk movement of Hip Hop. Cosmic Force expanded his musical tastes with the more experimental music of Pierre Henri, Oscar Sala and Kraftwerk. After playing around with tape recorders and borrowed turntables, CF started his musical experimentation for real when he started buying modular systems and really morphing the sounds he had. Once alerted to music making potential and an immersion in Synthesized music, He then started his collection of original analog synths and along with his 808, created his own brand of street tuff Electro.
Picked up by CLONE RECORDS when they first launched after hearing just a couple of his tunes, Cosmic Force released many classic trax on this world renowned label before setting up his own much celebrated label, MARGUERITA RECORDINGS and releasing his own material alongside the likes of DETROIT IN EFFECT and E8.
