One year ago, Cashmere Radio aired its first broadcast from a porcelain factory-cum Sushi restaurant-cum living room in the East Berlin suburb of Lichtenberg. It began with a handful of shows broadcasting on Tuesdays and not even the faintest idea of what radio involved beyond probably requiring a microphone and a fully functioning cocktail bar.
Skip forward a year, and Cashmere Radio now boasts 27 regular shows, has a fully operational broadcasting and performance studio, and has welcomed guests from around the world such as Burnt Friedman, Kez YM, A Guy Called Gerald, Caterina Barbieri and Dynamo Dreesen onto the air. We have been a media partner at Superbooth, held performances from the likes of Hour House, hosted all-night ambient sit ins, and serve up some of the best cocktails that you can shake a stick at.
In short, Cashmere Radio is celebrating one year of experimental broadcasting practice, and we are throwing a party to celebrate what has so far been a mad and brilliant journey.
ON JUNE 12th, Cashmere Radio moves from its Lichtenberg HQ to the beautiful Open Air at JK for a stacked Sunday of grade-A certified music, featuring good friends and radio regulars.
From 10am-10pm Cashmere will take over the new Open Air floor of JK for sun soaked musical hedonism. In the event of bad weather it will be moved to the club’s spacious wooden hall.
Never ones to do things quickly, after 10pm we will continue with an afterhour inside the JK club whilst we transform the outside area into a chillout ambient floor curated by Cashmere DJS.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a Cashmere party if Matty Martinez and Jacques Pervert weren’t pouring rocket fuel into the jet engine. The infamous Cashmere Radio alchemists will be running a Cashmere-curated bar for the whole duration of the event with a drinks lists prepared specially for the event.
